I've had many chicks in the workplace and at parties say to me "We can always tell a man by his scent." They never go on to elaborate about mine personally, but their behaviours do express that they like it at least. I think that with so many 'stinky' men (like Monk) out there - any woman appreciates a guy who makes any effort to smell 'approachable' at least.

Yeah - Ian Roberts smashed Garry Jack up so much. GJ even took legal action for assault.
Garry Jack being the first 'Whiner' in Rugby League to take legal action from a punch up.
Garry Jack called him a Faggot apparently, but Roberts ended up being the 'Man' of it all, while Gary cried "Lawsuit"! Cry

It is not only your body odour that women would appreciate smelling nice. But, your breath needs to freshen up for a few hours, at least, too. Having diabetes, my breath ended up smelling quite bad within an hour of brushing my teeth. I tried whatever I could to alleviate the problem. Mouthwash was doing not much to help. Then I found that using baking soda helped to keep my breath clean for hours. Just a scoop of baking soda to be held in your mouth for no longer than 5 minutes would do wonders to clean off the stains (and slightly remove tartar over time). But, don't hold the baking powder in your mouth too long as it does dissolve some skin tissue.

Yeah, well, if you go a couple of days without a shower, as I did a month ago, you end up smelling bad. No reason trying to justify it with saying it is the biotas fault.

You should rinse yourself over twice a day, with one of those showers a body scrub to make sure that the body smells clean.

You could be a naturo-path minded person with eating good foods and liquids of very healthy quality.
But if you don't 'wash' - you'll be just another 'stinky' of same sh_it, but different smell.
Sure, you might not smell like Monk. But you will have 'body odours' exhibiting.
Now, out in the wilds of the world - where even the women will be smelling much the same. It doesn't really matter as your personal scent is lost on all the other smells around you like being caked in unwashed 'dirt' and soils.
But to be in a room that is also cleaned, with people who have washed, air-conditioning and close contacts like an elevator... well, the natural body odours just smell even worse and thus the need of a good performance of consideration for others.

I wouldn't go one day without a proper shower. In the summer, often twice a day.

I was given some Lynx Africa once as a present, and decided to use it. I generally don't see the point of spraying yourself with nondescript organic chemicals but I tried it anyway.

Anyway I discovered later that it's not very popular with the younger generation (20s and 30s) The reason as I subsequently found out is that at High School, boys would spray the stuff around liberally when they had showered after gym. So the lingering smell of BO mixed with Lynx Africa resulted in very negative memories.

As a consequence, even when it was available, it was heavily discounted.

Somebody bought me a cheap present!

Cheaply marketed when it came out.
Designed for the dumb mass production people - both blue and white collar.
After just 5 years, it had already dropped in price to the almost always 'On Special' price. Grin
