Sports people should battle to the death!  Cheesy

Like the Romans?

That signified the downfall of the Roman empire.

No. Christianity brought about the fall of the Roman Empire from the Middle-East.
It divided the Empire into East & West before it was conquered.

Just watched an amazing & Record Breaking fight between Jesus Soto-Karass & Neeco Macais.
No spoilers. Just watch the full fight
...if you can go the distance with these two. Phew! 🥵

Oh boy!  Shocked

Zack Padilla v Ray Oliviera : the previous Record holder back in 1993, but with an extra 2 rounds (12). See if you can spot the coincidence in the two fights.
Again, no spoilers.

I wonder if Roman or Spartan soldiers could fight like this over the same distance? 😵 Undecided

Most modern historians reject the idea that Christianity brought down Rome,
noting that the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire survived as a
Christian state for another thousand years.

Yep - I think Fabio Wardley will have to retire now -

he was beaten from the first bell into a pulp and
his own team threw in the towel and the ref saved his life.   Grin

He will be dropped from the Top 10 money makers and dumped into the has been bin.
One loss can ruin a career. His is gone now.

Google AI:

Dubois dropped Wardley just 17 seconds into the opening bell with a massive straight right.
Wardley managed to survive a relentless pounding on the ropes to make it out of the first round,
but the onslaught continued immediately in the second.
Seeing their fighter taking unanswered, heavy damage,
Wardley's corner threw in the towel at 2 minutes and 21 seconds of Round 2,
forcing referee Steve Gray to wave off the contest.

While it was a shockingly one-sided "shellacking" compared to their grueling 11-round first bout, any concrete plans for retirement remain unconfirmed:

• The retirement chatter: Prior to the fight, boxing veteran Derek Chisora publicly predicted this would be Wardley's final bout, claiming he didn't want to box anymore.

• Wardley's response: Wardley strongly dismissed those retirement claims during fight week, stating he "doesn't mind" the outside opinions and expects to bounce back.

• Future outlook: Because Wardley reportedly holds a rematch clause in his contract, there is already initial speculation regarding a trilogy fight,
though he will undoubtedly need a significant medical suspension and rest period after absorbing such a severe stoppage.

After that performance.
No-one will pay to see a 3rd fight. This one was a flop as it was.

Yeah imagine paying big bucks to see a 3 minute fight and one guy getting
smashed from the first few seconds?
