(Reposted from previous page before the "page flip").

Welcome back everyone.

Here's our weekly Covid report:

Cases and hospitalisations down (cases down only because hardly anyone is getting tested, of course).

380
deaths this week.

https://covidlive.com.au/

https://covidlive.com.au/archive/20230120 (updated link because they've 'reset' the totals).

And still silence from the Prime Minister and State Premiers.

1059
Covid deaths for Australia in the first 3 weeks of 2023.

1,059 Covid deaths reported in the first 3 weeks of 2023? Do you think @Mark_Butler_MP
has a set number in mind for when he might step in and do something?

Sadly, it looks like the answer is "no".

If the PM and/or any of the Premiers were to acknowledge the Covid deaths and offer condolences to the familes it would no doubt be an admission that their "vaccines only then let it rip" plan was a failure.

Not a total failure because I'm sure the death toll would be much, much higher if it hadn't been for the vaccines but it was still stupid to rely totally on the vaccines especially with the virus popping out newer vaccine and antiviral evading variants on almost a monthly or even weekly basis.

aquascoot's hero Dr. John Gerrard, the Queensland Chief Health Officer has pretty much told us all (once again) that the Federal and State Governments' approach to dealing with Covid over the past 12 months was pretty much based on "hope".

Well.. as we've known all along.. Queensland's pandemic plan was just a theory and lots of hope. Maybe the survivors will develop immunity. Maybe they won't.

And... while us plebs are being told things like "Covid is over" (I saw "post pandemic" mentioned AGAIN in today's The West Australian) and "It's just a cold" and to get back to work, work, work and spend, spend, spend the attendees at the World Economic Forum obviously didn't believe it.

Guidance on Health Measures
Annual Meeting 2023

Health and safety

The World Economic Forum attaches the highest priority
to protecting the safety and well-being of participants, staff
and the local community. To create a safe environment at
the Annual Meeting 2023, the Forum is working with the
world’s leading health experts and virologists, as well as
Switzerland’s public authorities, to respond to the evolving
global health situation.

The Forum continues to monitor the
development of the COVID-19 pandemic and consult with
health experts and authorities, and will adapt, if needed, the
measures accordingly.

The Forum strongly recommends that participants are
vaccinated with the latest available vaccines and take a
COVID-19 test before travelling to Davos.

Participants are required to get tested in one of the Forum
testing centres after arriving in Davos and picking up their
badge. Conducting a test will keep the badge active and
grant the access to the Annual Meeting’s venues.

Failing to conduct an onsite test or a positive test result will lead to the badge being deactivated.

Masks and disinfectants will be available throughout the Annual Meeting 2023 at all meeting venues. Additionally, COVID-19 self-tests will be at participants’ disposal at the Forum testing centres and Registration Centre.

Quote:
Inside the Annual Meeting’s venues, areas will be cleaned, disinfected and ventilated several times a day. Additional state-of-the-art ventilation systems have been installed in areas with restricted air circulation.

hi carl

remember those crazy days when a chief health officer said "if the ball gets kicked into the crowd, dont touch it because it might have covid on it"

or  "such and such a school has been closed for deep cleansing"

just seems insane doesnt it

i'm sure most aussies think so.

its embarrassing for our chief health officers and premiers that they carried on like that

thankfully, everyone has moved on (except  for a few members of the cult of safetyism.

thats a very small cult now

scientology probably has more members

If someone with underlying medical conditions dies in a car accident, did they die directly FROM the car accident, or did they die WITH the car accident?

Wink

I've heard of dying in/from a car accident. But, how do you die WITH a car accident?? Are you saying that there is no difference between dying directly FROM Covid-19, and dying WITH Covid 19? I disagree!

Thousands of Australians dying from Covid (1059 in the first 3 weeks of this year) and all we have is an indifferent Prime Minister who's main "job" seems to be posting selfies day in and day out...

I agree 100%, Tim.

Yes, indeed... quite a follow up.

Profits over people.

The virus is just killing old people and sick people now - people on the pension and people using up free Medicare services.

As harsh as it sounds, the government is happy for them to die.

It's a no-brainer, and I've been saying it for almost three years.

Official Government Policy: "Vaccinate all the valuable people in society - healthy workers/tax payers - and then let the leeches - old age pensioners, and those on sickness benefits - die."

Blind Freddie knew that.  Blind man could see.

Seems that way, Greg.

The only mention I could find of Covid in yesterday's The West Australian was a small article on about page 15 which said cases were going down in WA.

No explanation as to why the cases were dropping, of course (hardly anyone getting tested anymore would be the best bet).

However, it did mention the 21 deaths for WA last week but nothing about the 380 in total recorded for all of Australia or the 1059 who have died in the last 3 weeks.

Anyway... here's another photo op from the Prime Minister to keep everyone distracted.

Roll Eyes

Tim had something to say about that too... and, again... I agree 100%.

Yes, this is a disgrace.

https://twitter.com/blscarlett/status/1616220367575732224

Quote:
The reply just now received on behalf of Prime Minister @alboMP
is a disgrace. See image as below. It was a specific request that he, as Prime Minister, properly and formally recognise the #covid deaths. I find the dismissive attitude to be appalling.

And, I believe Kym might be on to something here:

Is this the reason for all these weirdly split portfolios... no one is responsible for anything?

Nothing would surprise me anymore.
