Badluck carl your junk vaccines are not going to do anything about the latest cold. Too bad you don't have any natural immunity left to fight off this impending cold.

XBB just may be the most infectious disease we have ever seen.
an R/0 of 30 apparently.

has almost completely replaced omicron in the north east of the USA in 3 weeks.

is striking hard at the populations with the most vaccine immunity (europe and the north east of america) but not the much lower vaccinated states of texas and florida.

thankfully, like omicron , a mild respiratory virus and those who have natural immunity to omicron seem to get a mild infection.

estimates from the UK are that close to 1 in 12 people are infected AS OF NOW.
thats not "will be infected"

thats actually have it NOW.

we must expect a massive number of infections but there seems little point in testing as , it is impossible to isolate yourself from this version.

one cannot "hold back the tide"

our politicians now have come to terms with this.

testing new flight arrivals , is, sadly, a publicity stunt

Now
300
deaths for the week.

https://covidlive.com.au/

3 States still to report.

Good to see hospitalisations and ICU numbers down a bit. I'm sure that's all we'll see and hear in the news, of course. If they bother to mention Covid at all.

There won't be a single word about the deaths.

Oh, and we'll probably hear about the drop in cases - which, as everyone should know, is only a result of people not bothering to get tested anymore.

(Wonder what's going on with Queensland Health? They usually have their numbers out long before now?)

not really unbleievable carl.

we probably have a few million australians who are kept alive only due to extreme measures

dialysis, multiple medications, stents, catheters, feeding tubes, regular intravenous antibiotics, home oxygen, multiple admissions to acute hospitals with monitoring of every blood element and micro adjustments

these several million very unwell people with multiple co-morbidities, cant cope with a mild respiratory virus.

the virus is pretty mild but even a mild extra thing to deal with is enough to tip them over the edge

i think the medical establishments are doing pretty good to keep the numbers that low.

if we were going thru a delta wave , it might be 4000.

we must be very grateful to omicron for its benevolence

we await XXB and see what effect it will have.

undoubtedly many millions of australians are about to find out.

when mother nature issues a challenge here on planet earth, you either have to face it or book a trip on elon musks mission to mars.
i think the virus is the better option

I'm wondering how many deaths in one week will trigger a response from the Prime Minister and State Premiers to acknowledge that Covid isn't over, isn't "mild" and can't be treated "just like another respiratory condition" and to offer condolences to the families of the 17,711 dead so far? Over 9,000 since the Federal election last May.

Doesn't look like 407 deaths in one week is enough. Maybe 500? 600?

I can tell you from first-hand experience that RPH and Fremantle Hospital are both overrun with COVID.

It stands to reason that both Fiona Stanley and SCGH will also be full of COVID patients.

There's also a nasty staph bug working its way through RPH (but that's nothing unusual, really).

Firstly, there are around 3.3K Australians dying every week. So, 407 deaths represents around 12% of the weekly deaths. The average weekly Covid-19 related deaths over almost 3 years is 117 Australians. Or, roughly 4% of the total weekly deaths.

Secondly, what did these victims really die from? What was the average age of the victims? Were other comorbidities involved? Were there other contributing/secondary causes listed on the death certificate? What were the vaccine status of those victims?

Since it would be an evolutionary disadvantage for a virus to kill its host, did these victims die directly FROM Covid-19? Or, did they die WITH Covid-19? It could be misleading and deceptive to simple state only the total number of deaths. Without including these important details for context, clarity, and objectivity.
