They removed the guy with COVID from the ward, and now everybody will have to be tested every day (not sure for how long).

They've shut the door and put up a stand outside with masks, gloves, aprons, etc.

Everyone has to put on every single piece of PPE before they can enter.

Mum was coming home on Monday, but now she could be stuck there for another week - I'm not sure 

And, there's no checking when you visit a Perth hospital now.

You just fill in a short survey on your phone - what hospital are you visiting, what ward, do you have COVID - and wear a mask.  That's it.

They don't check vaccination status anymore - anti-vaxxers like lastnail can just walk right in.

Speaking of tourism.

Someone was asking in the letters to The West Australian last week if Mark McGowan could let us know exactly how many Italian tourists have visited WA after the first Qantas Perth to Rome direct flight in June with Mark and his new best friend Alan Joyce on board?

My guess would be that you could probably count the number on both hands (not including thumbs).

Just spoke to a nurse, and she said they're putting her on anti-viral medication and closely monitoring her.

She has a fever of 39 degrees, and a cough.

Otherwise in good spirits and doesn't sound too concerned. Quite upbeat.

She's in her mid-eighties and has heart and lung problems - I'm pretty concerned 

Already lost Dad this year - couldn't handle losing Mum right now.

The good news is, she's in an excellent hospital with an excellent team so hopefully she'll be okay.

Has to stay in for at least a week, so they said.

Another sleepless night for me

The odds are against her, but she's a real tough old chook.

I actually think she'll get through this.

I've decided to quarantine myself for the next 5 days, seeing as I was with her and the other two infected patients yesterday.

There's a good chance I've got it myself now.

Netflix, wine, and guitar playing for the next week

Just got off the phone to the doctor in the hospital, and they're about to give Mum her the first dose of anti-viral meds.

She's still very upbeat and doesn't have any serious symptoms.

The doctor told me if I test negative with a RAT in the morning, I should be fine to go out in public.

I might self isolate for a few days anyway, just to be safe.

Sounds encouraging.
