I'm curious. Just how far are you willing to go, to stop a virus that is LESS LETHAL THAN THE MEASLES??

I can't remember the last time the measles killed nearly 16,000 Australians in 2 years?

Nearly 13,000 Covid deaths so far this year and over 7,000 since the Federal election in May.

And, according to a report from a Federal government health department website in May this year (can't find it again right now) nearly 80% of Covid deaths were OF Covid and not just WITH Covid.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

Firstly it's been over an almost 3 year period(not 2). But lets look at these accumulated totals and put them into their proper perspective. As of 25th Jan. 2020-20th Oct.2022(999 days), there have been 10.3M cases and 15.5K Australians dying from/with Covid-19. If we assume that everyone died ONLY because of the virus(no other comorbidities), that would still be a mortality rate of 0.15%. Or, a 99.85% survival rate.

This also means that on average, 15.5 people have died in Australia each day since the beginning of this pandemic. This represents only 0.00006% of the Australian population each day. At the end of March(2020) there were only 34 deaths(5,687 cases). Before vaccines were available(Feb22, 2021), there were 999 deaths(28,930 cases). So what do these stats tell me?

Between Jan 2020 and the end of March(before lockdowns and mandates), there were fewer cases and deaths. Between the end of March until Feb 2021(before vaccines), there was 29 times more people dying, and 5 times more cases. After vaccines were introduced(and up to today), there was 15.5 times more people dying, and 356 times more cases.

Conclusion? We were better off sticking to education and treatment of the disease. Just like we've been doing for all other viruses. Oh, and man can't stop anyone from being infected by a virus.

In 2016, 90,000 people died from the Measles worldwide. And, in 2017, over 110K people died from the measles worldwide. In the US, 2-3M people are infected annually, and around 400-500 people die from this disease. I doubt if you will see this level of mortality in Australia. But the mortality rate of a disease, is NOT based on the number of deaths it causes in Australia, right? Covid-19 is still less lethal than the Measles.

Remember, NO vaccine can prevent any virus from entering your body. Vaccines can only help the body to attack the pathogen sooner. And hopefully, prevent it from becoming the disease.

Unfortunately, ALL Covid-19 deaths are coded on the death certificate as the primary underlying cause of death. All codes are listed as, "U07.1"(virus identified), "U07.2"(virus NOT identified), "U09"(any chronic condition from the virus), and "U10"(suspected case of Covid-19). They are all then tabulated in the Covid-19 mortality stats, as the cause of death.

Oh, thank you for your welcome.

Yeah, it's a problem the forum software has had for a long time.

After a thread fills to a certain number of pages it doesn't automatically show the next page, you have to 'flip' the page like I've done here.

You can actually read the replies that haven't shown up by clicking on the "Reply" button like I did here.

If you go back and look at the top of previous pages in this and other large threads you'll see what I mean.

Thank you for your assistance. I'm not very tech savvy, I must admit. I saw the "flip page" you stated at the top of page 90. But there was no page 91 for me to flip to. It was only when you replied that page 91(and my posts) mysteriously appeared.

I also keep getting this "This form is not secure. Autofill has been turned off". Does this have any effect on my posting?

Again, thank you for your advice and response.

I get a similar thing when I login with Mozilla Firefox.

That's been happening for a long time too.

I just ignore it (one day my curiosity might get the better of me and I'll click on the Learn More link).

If anyone is responding. I can't see the posts. All I'm receiving are notifications. This is becoming frustrating!

Cases and hospitalisations appear to be on the rise in Victoria, the only State still giving daily numbers.

https://covidlive.com.au/

And, another 11 deaths.

A lot of people (myself included) are wondering when our 5th Covid vaccination will become available?

Our 4th doses are already waning - I read somewhere earlier that only about 25% of Australians have had a Covid vaccination in the past 4 months.

If Australia must continue with this "vaccines only" plan then you'd at least expect the government would provide us with the vaccines.

"Vaccines only but without the vaccines".

Insane.

11 people out of 26M people? How old were the people who died? What other comorbidities did they have? How many people recovered today from this illness? Were their immune system under or over performing? How does this affect the disease's mortality rate?

You do realize, that no matter how many vaccines you have, you can still become infected, spread, or God-forbid, die from this disease? The only thing that matters, is the condition of your immune system. NOTHING ELSE. Do you fall into the high-risk categories? Is your natural immune system compromised? Do you work as a healthcare professional? Or, do you just want to feel safe?

On average, around 130 Australians die each day. So, 11 deaths is around 8% of all daily deaths in Australia. I believe that when it is your time, vaccinated or not, it is just your time.

This week's mild Covid death and disability report.

More Australian families grieving the loss of loved ones just before Christmas.

https://covidlive.com.au/

104
deaths for the week including another
19
for here in WA.

Last week Australia had 85 deaths so that's an increase of 19 deaths. Cases also up by about 3,000 this week as well (you could probably multiply this by about 10 to get a more accurate number since hardly anyone is reporting their tests anymore - assuming they even bother to test themselves).

But remember - it's mild, OK?

Let's try to add some context/perspective to more of the same Covid-19 fear-mongering.

104 death per week is(on average) less than 15 deaths per day. On average, 15 people have died with/from this virus everyday for almost the last 3 years. There's no death by age group mentioned. Nor, is there any stats on the causes of these deaths(comorbidities, high risk groups, chronic illnesses, etc.). How many people have recovered from this virus? How many people have died in the week from other causes(perspective)?

If you just tell people how many people died this week without context, it might make people think that all Covid-19 does is kill people. This would be intellectually dishonest and irresponsible. But 15 people a day, in a population of 26M? I wouldn't call this mild. I'd call it insignificant.

And, these deaths are certainly no reason shutdown and isolate a country, end the dreams of small business owners, put hundreds of thousands of workers back on the dole, imprison citizens for the crimes of not wearing masks and keeping their distance, destroy our major industries, and force citizens to shoot-up on a government approved poison, INDEFINITELY.

No virus could have cause this much destruction to Australia. Only we could in our attention-seeking zeal to react. Fortunately, many of us have marched to stop this madness from getting any worse. And, the next government will also be removed, if they think that we have short memories.

A lot of people (myself included) had such high hopes that something would be done about all of the Covid cases and deaths when the ALP won the Federal election and Anthony Albanese became Prime Minister in late May.

We have been very disappointed (to put it 'mildly'). Over 7,000 Covid deaths since the Federal election and NOT A SINGLE WORD OF CONDOLENCE for the families of all of these people (now getting close to 16,000 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic) from the Prime Minister or any of the State Premiers.

But, to do that would mean that they would have to admit the pandemic is not over. Far from it, in fact.

In fact, it looks like it's about to get a whole lot worse in the coming months.

Paywalled as usual but you get the idea.

Quote:
‘Nightmare’: New Covid threat hits Australia

Just in time for Christmas a new fast-spreading Covid variant has hit Australia with cases rising tenfold in a few weeks.

That's probably the XBB variant from Singapore and a few others will no doubt be here soon as well.

(Yes it is - see attached image from a Google search).

Edit: another link here.

Quote:
A new immune-resistant and rapidly spreading Covid variant has reached Australia.

The XBB strain, which is said to be resistant to vaccines and antibodies from previous infections, emerged in Singapore weeks ago and is already spreading in Australia.

Some media reports have dubbed it the ‘nightmare variant’ after cases in Singapore doubled in a day.

And, with rising cases will also come rising hospitalisations and deaths.

The only thing that seems to be worrying Anthony Albanese at the moment is if his phone battery goes flat before he has a chance to take another stupid 'selfie' and post it on Twitter and Facebook.

Where's our 5th Covid vaccination (3rd booster) for all those who want it?

https://twitter.com/Mike_Honey_/status/1585968309727469568

Quote:
"Fully vaccinated" - received a booster in the last 120 days

This continues to decline, everywhere.

The range now is from TAS (13.3%) down to WA (11.1%).

Australia's "vaccines only then let it rip" (but now without the vaccines) "strategy" isn't going to end well.
