Choko's remind me of my youth - everyone grew them, never liked to eat them at all.

I remember when I was maybe 10 that they collapsed an old shed we had, problem was that I was standing on it at the time.

I am sure it was my 25 kilos and not the choko's 400 kilos.

I was being a bit ironic when I said I was standing on the shed - it was in fact my addition that caused the collapse but with the weight of the vines it was only a matter of time before it went down. I was amazed that it stayed up as long as it did.

It was an interesting slow motion trip to the ground, unfortunately not the only one of its type when I was young.

Forgot to mention that my Greek neighbour a few doors down who is country born n bred (originally from Sparta and came to Australia in 1985) has a gripe about growing mint. She can't grow mint anywhere on her property lol!

She gets the shytes when she comes up my garden pathway. It's growing out of all the cracks in the concrete lol. Luscious big soft leaves too!

These days I deliberately grow it as ground cover all around my front garden (so she and a few other neighbours can pick what they like). Mint comes in handy for cold drinks and salads as well as soups/stews. Oh and Mediterraneans need lots of it for a popular dip involving creamy thick yoghurt/shredded cucumber and chopped up garlic.

Sometimes it's just a matter of position. You plant something in an ideal position and it just thrives.
