Talk about waffle!!!. If you just got here, this thread has become so convoluted that no one understands WTF anyone else is saying. I suggest the moderators blow it up with a metaphorical anti-tank rocket so we can start again.

No. You remind me of seventh day adventists' obsession with the second coming (with you it's 'prosperity' acomin' one day to the Chinese).

So you deny the eventual achievement of prosperity and security on earth?

Pathetic self-interested unthinking conservative ideology  in the extreme.

Guess what: The resources exist to house clothe feed and employ everyone one, without war.

Quote:
China is a dump outside Tier 1 (sometimes 2) showcase city regions.

But living standards are improving at the fastest rate of any nation in history

Quote:
Chinese wealth was built on slave labour

Like British (and empire)  wealth in the 19th century.

Quote:
which continues to this day.

Nonsense: google Ellen Brown: "the american dream is alive and well in China".

Quote:
Nonsense. Because of this, poverty is forcibly entrenched beyond showcase cities, to ensure a continual supply of slaves to top tier cities' sweatshops.

Refuted above; in fact in some low-skilled industries,  factories are now moving out of China to places like Vietnam where wages are lower, because the Chinese  wage structure has risen to middle income standards.

General prosperity will not come to the Chinese under the CCP.

The CCP is a totalitarian nepotistic oligarchy that does not feed the masses for the sake of their welfare; only to fuel a slave class to serve the few.

Living standards are only improving for the CCP ruling class and those with strong connections to it.

And, I see you now openly admit that Chinese prosperity is predicated on slavery.

Ellen Browne: '90% of families [in China] can afford to own their homes.'. Written before the pandemic and the subsequent exposure of CCP lies about the true state of China.

Let's just hold it right there, Pilgrim.

Your kind despise 'colonialism' and all it brought to a very dark world;

Incorrect: I accept the fact of history as it has 'unwound'.

Quote:
then you despise 'neo-colonialism' by whatever means - economic of military -

I can't address that because I don't know what you mean by it (is it a reference to Taiwan?).

Quote:
yet you advocate a form of neo-colonialism yourself in your advocacy that the there be an 'international force' to keep order - meaning invasion and was.

International law is the sine qua non of international security. You are confusing establishment of law with the practice of force.

Unlike individuals, nations can be disarmed by agreement, without force.

Quote:
So dumb it isn't even funny.

Refuted above. Doc Evatt, a former high court judge who worked to establish international law in 1946, proposed (correctly) a UNSC without veto; if the judges in a court  have a veto, there is no law. Pity for you  the rationality of that statement  is irrefutable.

Quote:
Let us look at Somalia....

oh god, if you insist...

Quote:
the US went in on a mission to keep order and guarantee relief supplies flowing to the people it was intended for.

Why was there disorder in Somalia?

Answer: economic dysfunction and corruption, which as a matter of fact has much to do with the US-imposed debt-money system maintained by the IMF (a US stooge); see the discussion in the MMT thread which freediver hijacked to his "privatization" thread because he can't tolerate exposure of the current evil  debt money system, and its responsibility for global poverty.

Quote:
This was a multi-national force including Pakistanis - a group of whom, fellow Muslims, were massacred by Somalis before 'Black Hawk Down', thus leading to a reluctance of the Pakistanis to effectively support the US action to bring order (your entire purported aim here) by removing one of the major players in the Warlords scenarios which was destroying the ability of relief organisations to get relief to those in the most need - the ordinary people.

Addressed above.

Economic dysfunction, maintained by the post WW2 US-led "Bretton Woods" debt-money system, has been breeding economic hardship everywhere , with  especially disastrous outcomes in the 3rd world.

But this issue (like the one you cited in Somalia)  is separate from the possibility of disarming all nations, under international law with dispute settlement backed by a UNSC minus veto.

Quote:
Now this raises two things:-

1.  The fundamental inability of any international force to operate as a cohesive whole, and actually do the job they are there for.

Addressed above. Fix economic dysfunction, and disarm war lords/nations.

Quote:
2.  The lack of a fully integrated command and control mechanism meant that each nation's individual commander could decide when and how his people would operate in relation to any given mission.

That's because you insist on the "right" of warlords and nations to wage war, irrational and absurd in the age of MAD.

Quote:
Do you really expect that an international force cobbled together will suddenly abandon its own personal and national sovereignty and operate as a cohesive whole?

That's what international law is  - outlawing war.

Quote:
Somalia is perfect for this discussion:

Refuted above; perfect for you because it enables to  you conflate  economic, ethnic  and political issues which combined disastrously in Somalia , in a world without international law and a functional economic system capable of creating economic security for all (as was being discussed in the MMT thread until it was  highjacked by freediver,  a conservative fraud who disabled the 'quote' function in the MMT thread, to divert the debate to  'privatization' thread ...which duly attracted your attention.

Note: the only way freediver can avoid being forever exposed as a fraud is to reinstate the 'quote' button in post #125 in the MMT thread.

Quote:
-  each player functioned with his own personal and national and religious sovereignty during the whole thing - and after - so no result was ever going to come from an attempt at inserting an international force without cohesive leadership and command and control into such a turbulent situation.

all demonstrating the need for international law, via an ICJ backed by a UNSC minus veto (to outlaw war), and a functioning international economy which promotes  prosperous development in all nations.

Quote:
No international force has EVER managed to restore order in a given situation - take Rwanda, Congo, Yugoslavia that was - and EVERY time such a force has been advocated by the UN, the burden has fallen to a few major players - ALL functioning within their own national sovereignty.

National sovereignty needs to be restricted, to enable international law (via judges in an ICJ) to manage dispute settlement  between nations without resorting to war.

Quote:
You can talk and talk about your airy-fairy ideas and 'ideals' - But It Will Never Work!

Depends on how much ongoing slaughter in endless wars you want to tolerate, in the name of 'national sovereignty' .

Typical read-the-text-to-the-letter conservative.

Guess what: "how does this war end" deserves and needs an examination of what causes war, if it is to be anything more than a whole lot of navel -gazing- guessing, and BS for drooling war mongers.

Putin's reason for this war is exactly the same as the CCP claims in China and beyond.
To restore a long-past empire.

Well the past - and movement of peoples within those empires, does have to be acknowledged; Putin wants to look after the interests of Russian-speakers who, after the collapse of the USSR,  have found  themselves outside the current Russian border; and Jews claim a "right" to land they last possessed 2000 years ago!

Borrowed from wombatwoody:

It does no good whatsoever to ignore the reptilian component of human nature, particularly our ritualistic and hierarchical behavior.

...recalling my references to the vestigial reptilian brain (in humans) responsible for your delusional "freedom"/'sovereign individual rights' ideology.

And whether they succeed depends on their capacity to successfully use force, just as Mao did with Tibet and why the CCP claims the right to use force against Taiwan.

However, the Taiwanese will be ready to have the Taiwan Strait run red with PLA blood in defense of their island, particularly after the example of courage and resolve the Ukrainians have shown the world.

What is 'Slava Taiwan' in Chinese?

You cannot have a meritocracy in a one-party state. Any competent candidate who has not been endorsed by the party, or whose political ideas run counter to a totalitarian nepotistic oligarchy, will not be promoted into government; and there is no possibility of their running independently of the party, let alone against the party.

The CCP still lies about the origin of covid and currently is blaming the omicron spike on imports from South Korea.

The CCP lies about the infection rate in China and has done since the beginning of the pandemic.

What the world did prior to 2020 was turn a blind eye to CCP lies and coverups.

The mask is off now; anything the CCP publishes about China's success is treated as a lie.

Nonsense,  in fact you can ONLY have a  meritocracy in a one-party state, because adversarial, ideologically opposed  2-party democracies invariably draw on the most effective public ideologues, not the most merit-worthy people.

That's why democratic elections are so f**ked; have
a  look at the current  blind-leading-the-blind elections in France, and the chaos in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
In France, 'centrist' Macron failed to improve the living standards of the poor, which is why far Right le Pen has forced him to a 2nd round election. She won't do any better if she is elected, just as Albo won't be able to any better than Scomo -  which is why increasingly hyperpartisan  and demoralized electorates (especially the young)  are becoming increasingly disillusioned by democracy itself.

Of course, the real cause of this democratic malaise is  the currently enforced - by private financiers/banksters - 'debt money' system itself, which these banksters are able to maintain because most people don't understand the concepts or indeed the  difference between debt free money,  and interest bearing debt-money.

See the Modern Monetary Theory thread, post #129.

(Btw, that's why this election has more independents seeking election than ever.)

Quote:

Huh? A mere two weeks or so after Dr Li's death confirmed the presence of the pandemic, the CCP acknowledged the pandemic and cooperated with the WHO's  examination of its possible causes in China. Meanwhile  the pandemic is still with us, the death toll in the "free" US is approaching 1 million dead; the "correct" approach is yet to be decided after the dust has finally settled.

Merit is the worthiness of someone for the role required. The CCP does not allow any non-party aligned competent person to enter government; this means the CCP chooses those who support its totalitarian nepotistic oligarchy prior to considering competence.

Nothing the CCP publishes about itself is trusted anywhere; and is merely tolerated only by other totalitarian nepotistic oligarchies where it serves their interests. I'd bet North Korea pretends to believe the CCP's statements on anything.

The truth of CCP crimes, as will soon happen to Putin's Russia, will only be exposed after it collapses.

Nonsense, though the CCP has suspicions about previous US activities in a Wuhan lab, ; and indeed the exact cause of the pandemic has yet to be confirmed by the WHO

Correct, cf the current crop of clowns endorsed by the mainstream parties and standing for election in Oz, by an electorate most of whom have no idea, beyond their own blind, ignorant biases, re the various policies.

Hence the current democratic malaise, and general increasing disillusionment with democracy, as inequality soars - regardless of which party is in power.

Wrong; merit is recognized at the local level in local elections at the town level.

Just listening to Stan Grant's anti-Chinese program on ABC TV; why are you guys so desperate to point to China's faults, without any awareness of your own egregious shortcomings . Enjoy the mind-numbing idiocy of the adversarial democratic "debate" (aided and abetted by an equally ignorant yet willing media determined to confuse the issues even more) - which you will face in the coming 40 days, you deserve it.

Ah, the long-awaited 'China collapse' theory, an alternative to the much vaunted 'China threat' theory.
Gotta cover all your bases, I suppose.

Sorry, dear, this doesn't make any sense, either historically, philosophically or even mathematically.

Alas, two plus two does not equal five, as Winston Smith was at pains to point out.

Meister is right. Your entire thesis falls down on this point. A one-party state is by definition a monopoly. This can't possibly deliver merit, just jobs for the boys.

After all, the CCP removed the leadership of Tibet on just such grounds. If you want a theocracy, you might as well put the Dali Lama back in power.

And as we all know, the Party is hardly the place for philosopher kings, no? Read your Plato.

Read your Marx. Dialectics 101, innit.

AZOVS underground tunnels of the factory hide NATO officers and scientists from the biolaboratory.

Russia's special military operation has discovered a network of biological laboratories in Ukraine for research and control of biological situations, as Russian officials stated earlier, and a great discovery of the area has just taken place.

"More than 3000 nationalists & Ukrainian army are hiding there. Also, according to some reports,
there are high-ranking NATO military & scientists who were involved in the work of biological laboratories in Ukraine..."
