Putin did not focus his invasion in the east. He opened fronts in the north and northeast in an attempt to decapitate the Ukrainian government and install a puppet regime loyal to Russia expecting no resistance and possibly an uprising in Russia's favour.
That's right Putin wants a buffer between Russia and what he sees as NATO backed by US triumphalism.
Quote: He was wrong;
Well he has certainly failed to suppress Ukraine, because
he under-estimated the power of US weaponry (as the Soviets did in Afghanistan in the 80's), which Biden has supplied to Ukraine, rendering Russian tanks useless, and airspace over Ukraine dangerous for Russian aircraft.
Quote:as the CCP will realise if it imagines the Taiwanese will be more welcoming than the Ukrainians were to Russians.
The CCP already knew this, before Ukraine; that's why the CCP accepted the status quo in Taiwan, so long as the One China principle is observed by all.
If China can tell the Pentagon where to go, in a decade or so, the dynamics will change....Taiwan will be reunited with the mainland without firing a shot.
Quote:Yet Singapore has a similar linguistic character to those Chinese subjugated by the CCP.
Singapore is not part of One China.
Quote:Austrians speak German. Should Germany invade Austria?
The Austrians welcomed Hitler.
Quote:Brazilians speak Portuguese. Should Portugal invade Brazil?
Should Spain invade South American Spanish-speaking countries?
Portugal and Spain and Britain in India did just that, until the invaded colonies gained independence.
Taiwanese-Chinese have yet to gain independence.
Quote:Should Mongolia invade inner Mongolia to prevent the suppression of the Mongolian language in Inner Mongolia?
The autonomous regions of China maintain freedom of language.
Quote:Uighurs speak the language of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Should they invade Xinjiang?
Uyghurs have freedom of religion and language, in autonomous Xinjiang.
Quote:So you agree the CCP is suppressing Mongolian and Tibetan languages in Inner Mongolia and Tibet respectively.
No, as refuted above.
Quote:The Taiwanese are a separate people
Tell that to the UN...
Quote:who have not had to suffer the oppression and catastrophic 'mistakes' of the CCP.
True - up to 1990, when the CCP started to govern successfully. so successfully that China will be able to tell the Pentagon where to go within a decade...game over.
Quote:It is not surprising that they intend to defend their island against it
Defending a delusional "freedom" ideology ( "freedom" which doesn't exist in the absence of prosperity and security, because economic injustice will always breed social instability) will be seen as a fools errand when the PLA can tell the Pentagon where to go.
