You're just one cliche after another. Go read some more Chomsky and get back to me.

How many Chomskys are there in the US compared to the likes of you? 1 in ten million?

Oh? So it's my fault, eh?

By default, yes (owing to your delusional ideology which is barring the establishment  of international law.)

Quote:
How naughty of me, no? If I supported a world with China in charge, perhaps none of this would have happened, yes?

China is not in charge, , and does not want to be "in charge"; China believes in the multilateral UN system.

I should just give into my overwhelming desire to obey. Who knows? If I do that, this could all be over by Christmas.

No it can't. The current state of global affairs - ruled by MAD -  will determine the possible compromises required to end this war.

Nevertheless, hopefully the Ukraine war will be over by Christmas  (unlike the Yemen war which has killed 400.000 civilians and is still ongoing after a decade, because it is a proxy war between the US and Iran which the West doesn't care about; the main actors S.Arabia and Iran are not nuclear powers).

It's clear what Chomsky's stance on (non-existent)  international law is.

What a surprise!

After being addicted to catastrophic mistakes (for which it demands to be be forgiven from the end of a gun), the second thing the CCP excels at is denial. No Tiananmen Square massacre, no covid from Wuhan, no Uighur genocide, no hostage-taking to swap for Huawei executives, no Peng Shuai rape, no widespread covid...

My latest thoughts on the war in Ukraine and wars in general:

All wars could be stopped if countries got around tables and agreed to
decrease the size of their armies and military expenditure by 10% every year.
Make it verifiable by all parties. Trust but verify.
Then countries would end up with such small armies that
no one would be a threat to anyone else.
All sides would save a lot of money that could go to increase
the standard of living in every country.
We'd all be better off - everyone is a winner.
It's really quite simple to do -
it only takes genuine and sincere willpower.
Basically human beings are not nice people so it won't happen.
Sorry for my cynicism.
The failure of the UN is also proof of that.

Fearless President will be suddenly taken ill and will retire quietly....

Russia will plead for economic assistance and re-instatement....

Ukraine will remain independent.... they are saying 'neutral' - I say 'neutral in what?' - every European nation was caught with their pants down when Putin invaded, and they are still deciding what to do rather than start military commitment...... hardly seems anyone was organising to invade Russia or anything..

Purest paranoid insanity.... and the poor Russians swallow it whole....they will start to wake up when their sons come home in wooden boxes as heroes of the nation...

"Keep attacking, Ivan - there'll be a Worker's Heroic Cross in it for us!"

"More likely a white one....."

I think the soft end of the war may be in sight.   Over the past months or so, the Russians and Ukrainians have traded blows.   Now, the dust began to settle.   I maintain my prediction of a divided East and West Ukraine.  With East Ukraine loyal to Russia, creating a security buffer zone for the Russians.   The whole war is about where the border get to draw between these two states.

If history is to repeat itself.  I think there will be cease fire, a DMZ, and both East and West Ukraine would claim that one day they want to once again unify Ukraine under their rule.    Another Korean situation.

This is just the latest in many similar proxy wars fought between the West and Russia.

Putin went for the whole of Ukraine believing pro-Russian sympathies to be the predominant mood of Ukrainians.

He was wrong.

So he's focussing on what he's sure he can keep - eastern Ukraine.

And neither the EU nor NATO nor anyone else in the region (including even the west Ukrainians) have any illusions about eastern Ukraine. Its people are culturally and linguistically Russian.

I don't believe eastern Ukraine will become an independent nation. It will be annexed by and subsumed into Russia, with the support of the pro-Russian populace, as Austria was by Nazi Germany. However, there will be no decoupling from Russia, like there was with Austria from Germany.

The union will be permanent.

Putin is in the process of ethnically cleansing the east of pro-Ukrainian people by genocide and a complete obliteration of its cities and towns such that, when this ends, they will be rebuilt by Russians and pro-Russians; being populated by Russians and pro-Russians.

Probably correct, except for the first bit. I don't believe Putin cared what the predominant mood of Ukraines was. He believed his tanks would repeat their success of earlier wars, and deliver the territory to him. After which he would install a puppet in Kyiv.
