The Cold War is back and is heating up rapidly. Putin is bogged down in a situation in Ukraine that is rapidly turning into another Afghanistan for Russia and he is becoming more desperate.
He exhibits the typical Russian mindset by making threats. A classic is his recent drone attack on the Chernobyl nuclear plant. The drone used had zero effect on the reactor containment vessel but the psychological effect is what he was after.

Meanwhile China continues to push boundaries in the SCS and the propaganda and cyber war against Australia and other countries in the region continues.

Interesting times ahead.

This will certainly raise the stakes. Before such a thing comes to pass there will have to be an agreement reached. I suspect Trump will sell out Ukraine in order to claim a 'victory'. However I doubt Putin will be happy with NATO peacekeepers on his doorstep.

Reply #198 - Feb 18^th, 2025 at 5:47pm The only thing to please Vlad would be for Ukraine to surrender. Europe has been alarmed by Trump and his antics. He hasn't solved the Ukrainian situation but he has produced a bit of a solution. Whether he has promised more than what Vlad deserves is questionable.

Well, that decision was inevitable. That carrier was soaking up treasure and attention to no real end. No longer affordable.

Ukraine is sucking all the money out of the budget as well as killing 100,000 ruzzian/“volunteers” for ruzzia every few months.

ruzzia is going to collapse before the end of this year.
