Sorry Bill Gates, but
AUDIO
isn’t the best word to start with when you’re playing Wordle.

A pair of MIT researchers recently set out to find the optimal starting word for the popular online puzzle, discovering that the statistically superior first guess is
SALET
, which is a 15th century helmet.

The peer-reviewed paper, titled “An Exact and Interpretable Solution to Wordle”, puts an end to the ongoing debate over what five-letter word constitutes the best opening move in the game.

“If you play SALET and you play intelligently you can assuredly win the game within five guesses,” researcher and MIT Ph.D. student Alex Paskov tells CNBC Make It. “You don’t even need that last guess.”

Looks a good word but I am not sure that the 3 vowel option isn't stronger. The consonants are very strong in this word and the letter placement is also very good. Lots of words end in t and lots start with s with the vowel placement also strong.

The big question is the second word now that you are short on vowels I would imagine that if you get no vowels come up the second word needs to be stronger in that area or does he just plug away with strong consonant placement.

Your 2nd line was a wasted opportunity. Why did you ignore those 2 letters in the 1st line?

I have a default second word that often adds some squares - it didn't work well today, You are right I likely should not have used it but wasn't too worried about the letters I already knew. I mix up how I use the second line today I got it wrong.

If you use 5 unknown letters on line 2 you increase the odds of picking up another letter. 5 chances instead of 3. The 2 letters that I had were no help in making a likely solution word.
