While he didn't say the pandemic is over, or even allude to it (not least given he can't know if another variant will arise), if it will be over soon, it's in keeping with the trend of flu pandemics of the 20th century (2-5 years duration).

And then only thanks to modern medical practice and advancements in vaccination science.

Polio outbreaks, for example, occurred every summer for decades in the 20th century until an effective vaccine was developed and distributed worldwide by the early 60's.

There is also the probability that a covid vaccine will be included in the yearly flu vaccine, so don't sell those pfizer shares just yet.

The implications are profound and this is a study by the CDC on massive populations in California and New York

And what it shows is that if you have a positive diagnosis for coronavirus
There is no benefit in terms of hospitalization rates if you were then to get vaccines

One would always have thought this would be the case

Literally hundreds of millions if not billions of people worldwide
Will now have scientific data saying that there is no benefit for them being vaccinated
This is huge

I must shoot off an email to Scott Morrison and tell him to get the checkbook ready for Mr Djokovic
As there was no scientific basis for him being excluded as he had higher antibody coverage then vaccinated players Grin Grin

Provided they have contracted covid and survived, of course! Which he indicated, tongue-in-cheek!

He did not recommend that the unvaccinated risk remaining so, and, instead waiting to contract the disease.

‘Conditions ideal for more variants’: WHO boss warns against talk of COVID ‘endgame’

Quote:
Geneva: The head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) is warning that conditions remain ideal for more coronavirus variants to emerge and says it’s dangerous to assume Omicron will be the last one.

While agreeing the acute phase of the pandemic could end this year, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus advised against thinking that “we are in the endgame.”

Quote:
“There are different scenarios for how the pandemic could play out and how the acute phase could end, but it’s dangerous to assume that Omicron will be the last variant or that we are in the endgame,” he told the start of a WHO executive board meeting on Monday in Europe.

“On the contrary, globally, the conditions are ideal for more variants to emerge.”

Indeed. All I've seen and heard from the mainstream media the past day or two is talk about Covid cases reaching their 'peak', especially in New South Wales and Victoria. Despite the fact that the number of daily tests have dropped to nearly a tenth of what they were a month or two back.

All part of the plan to try and make Scotty from Marketing and his bunch of incompetent fools look good before the upcoming Federal election, I'm sure.

However, those pesky hospitalisation and death numbers are continuing to cause a bit of a problem for the "plan" but they don't seem to get much of a mention lately. What a surprise. Not.

If we analyse his claims, are their going to be misleading or flat out wrong like the last few of his you've quoted?

Did you want to maybe fact check him first, save yourself more humiliation?

The data is from the CDC

It's from St Anthony falci himself

And it's crystal clear

Have a look at that incredible curve showing the hospitalisations of the unvaccinated which go up and up and up

And the hospitalisations of the previously infected which is an absolute flatline

Previous infection prevents you  requiring hospitalization in the future and is superior to vaccination

This is marvelous news

And to have it confirmed by the CDC is the icing on the cake

The pandemic is over
For the millions of Australians who have caught omnicold
They can now get on with their lives safe in the knowledge that they are more protected then the quadruple vaxxed Israeli citizens

Break out the champagne

Or if you are a pfizer executive
Try not to jump off the building

(un)Happy Second Covid Anniversary, Australia.

First confirmed case of novel coronavirus in Australia

25 January 2020

Quote:
The first case of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has been confirmed by Victoria Health Authorities this morning.

The Commonwealth Department of Health is in close contact with Victorian health authorities and has notified the World Health Organization.

The patient, a man from Wuhan, flew to Melbourne from Guandong on 19 January.

Minister for Health Greg Hunt said,“Australia has world-class health systems with processes for the identification and treatment of cases, including isolation facilities in each state and territory, these processes have been activated.”

Quote:
Australia will continue to monitor the situation closely and continue to act on the best available evidence and advice.

That didn't age particulary well, did it? Especially in the past 6 months or so.

If there is it would appear omicron is going to provide good long-term immunity against it

From this report from the CDC
Which one would consider the Gold standard in epidemiology

Catching the virus in its milder form maybe the equivalent of catching cowpox to prevent smallpox

What you need to consider is why this is not being reported in the mainstream media
Considering it is from the CDC

Did the CDC really make those statements?

If it did, it can be considered cautious optimism at best.
