its madness bobby.
we have only 58 cases in qld and they have already closed one of the busiest police stations because someone had it and 2500 graduating nurses (you would think they might be useful) have been put in isolation because someone at their graduation had it.
that doesnt seem to be "learning to live with covid"
It's learning to hide under the doona instead of being awesome.
its going to play out like this.
omicron is super contagious.
initially, they will close police stations, close day cares, close schools, close dentists and accountants. they will be asked to quarantine. their family will then not be able to work.
maybe their wife is a nurse or their husband is a plumber.
soon society will grind to a halt.
10's of 1000's of people will be unable to participate and a lot of them will be essential workers.
they will try to plug gaps.
they are sending cops from the gold coast to cover beenleigh (which is a big area).
they wont be able to do it.
people will be catching covid and the whole household will be locked up.
then soon after they emerge , someone else will catch it and its back to square 1.
soon ( by about february), people will suddenly tweak that they know 100 people with omicron and none of them are very sick.
they will start to demand that the government stop the scaremongering the fines and the rubbish.
once public opinion gets behind stopping the nonsense, the nonsense will stop.
but not before.
a few weeks of blackouts, no one at your local servo, no one at your local woolies, no one at your local chemist, no one to fix your broken car and people will be screaming to forget about covid and get back to life as we knew it.
then the pandemic ends
and not before
until the chodes are made to live in deprivation due to workers being locked away, it wont end
