Hi Carl,
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we're all gunna get it.

Perth's Sunday Times front page headline today reads:

OPENING WILL BE FEB 5 ... UNLESS

And the story on page 5 has Mark McGowan saying that the plan is still to open up WA on February 5th unless there is an "unforeseen emergency" like another more deadly Covid variant emerging or if Omicron has a delayed reaction and lots of people die which he says is "unlikely".

His biggest worry is that WA will have a Covid outbreak before we even get to February 5th which is a definite possibility, of course.

How surprising Kim Jong McGowan is backpedalling on his reluctant plan to open the Hermit Kingdom of Western Australia to the rest of country and the world. Roll Eyes

the hermit king can pop down to aldi and buy some tissues and panadol and then declare the pandemic is over.

Had a look at the Letters to the Editor section in today's Sunday Times.

Hmm, still not one single letter printed from anyone who believes opening WA up on February 5th is a really, really bad idea especially after watching the unfolding disaster in the rest of the country.

Let's see now... so far we've a total of ZERO letters about reopening being a bad idea in the 6 daily newspapers (5 West Australians and today's Sunday Times) published since Mark McGowan's announcement last Monday.

But, there's a nice big section on travel in today's paper with the first page proudly proclaiming that travel can resume on February 5th. Yay!!!  Roll Eyes

Not hard to tell which 'side' the media is on, is it? As if we didn't already know.

There's also a full page ad from the WA State government setting out the "Safe Transition" plan starting on February 5th.

Clue4U: there's no such thing as a "Safe Transition" plan when dealing with Covid. Just ask the other States. Especially after I quickly browse through WA's "plan" and it looks like they're going to make exactly the same mistakes as the other States have done.

Idiots.

Some experts are now saying we should jump in and catch this Omicron variant for a real and natural immunity to this disease before a far more deadly variant evolves, the jabbed community are locked in now.

I don't want to get any disease but it will be difficult to avoid.

You are already double vaxxed so your natural immune system will probably not respond, get a booster as soon as you can.

My booster is due at the end of January -
if the 5 months time is used.

I'll be taking my elderly aunt up to our local chemist tomorrow morning to book our boosters. I can have mine on February 2nd and my aunt can have hers sometime in January (not sure of the date but the chemist told me they can look it up on their system).

Boosters or no boosters, as soon as Covid gets loose we'll only be leaving the house for essential reasons like shopping and medical appointments like I've heard a lot of people will be doing.

Might go for a drive with my aunt from time to time but that'll be about it.

Sad for business, especially small businesses but that's the price that will have to be paid for allowing Covid in.

Me too -
I turned down a Xmas meetup with a lot of people at a pub.

There could have been 200 people there -
in a confined space - no thanks.

Yes - probably.
They have my mobile number.

An expert on TV said the boosters need to be given at
3 to 4 months not 5 to 6 months.
The rules might change too.

Bobby there is going to be so much omicron in the community
That it may well be we don't need booster vaccines

And you'll probably get better long-term immunity from this very mild cold like illness

What we really need to do now is stop the testing

Overseas data have established this is a very mild illness
Super contagious so we will all get it
And that's not a bad thing
Learning to live with covid means not queuing up for 2 or 3 hours to get a test every time you sneeze

That's an incredible waste of valuable time and an incredible waste of valuable money

Time to slam close the shutters, bolt the doors and take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY of Lock Down and Lock Out the deadly Plague of Corona in all of its scientifically labelled variants and mutations.

Lucky I live in a nice 'private' camping spot, beside a crystal clear creek of fresh water. My 'glamp' Tenting complex is like that of a Sheikhs 'Harem'. I only have to travel an hour back into civilisation where I wear my deep-sea commercial diving outfit.

I know many locals who are locking themselves away from all the infected city tourists coming to spread ScoMo's virus and plague.

And now things have opened up you only need one carrier to turn up in your glamping spot.

Wasted effort & you're not far enough away from anyone.

Hi Aqua,
both Jacinda and Dan thought they could defeat nature.
They stopped the Covid tide coming in:

https://www.ozpolitic.com/album/forum-attachments/dannnnn_011.jpg

you should lock people in their houses for ebola virus.

you should give people 2 panadol , a packet of tissues and some chicken soup for a common cold,

aquas description of covid as "snifflys" has come true,

i might be nostradamus

More like "ignoramus".

That's a stupid as Measles, Chicken Pox or Mumps parties that were ignorantly done years ago & still tried by idiot anti-vaxxers today.

When Covid first appeared in the West smart arses who didn't think it serious ran Covid Parties & quite a few of the attendees & hosts died.

Stupid is as stupid does Forrest. Roll Eyes

A global pandemic whether from Covid or Ebola or some other disease .......

is of no comparison or relevance to being active or adventurous and taking risks.

Some off the adventurous risk takers are just down right idiots that cost taxpayers/govts $millions in rescue & recovery - alive or dead.

Is that you Forrest? I doubt it - practise what you preach.

Or are you speaking from a position of safety & isolation out there on your hobby farm?

Not at all my friend
I have even done a little amateur bull riding
That is a slightly different sensation to sitting on a couch

Yes I shall be endeavouring to catch the very mild omicron virus

I am interested to see what all the fuss is about
And I most certainly shall not be queuing for 5 hours to have an expensive test done at taxpayer expense
When all it seems to cause is the sniffles

Thank god there are some like-minded common sense people such as the New South Wales Premier
to lead us forward in a spirit of adventur
