Tesla drivers locked out
Nov 23rd, 2021 at 12:16pm

"Some Tesla drivers who fancied going for a spin on Saturday were unable to do so after an update to the cars' companion app produced server errors.

Teslas don't use conventional keys. Instead they require the presence of a fob, key card, or authenticated mobile phone app that links to the electric vehicles over Bluetooth. This is apparently easier and/or more convenient than a key, or something. Heck, everything's better with Bluetooth, right?

Drivers that use the app to start their cars reported it couldn't do the job and instead produced an error message."

"Measures like, maybe, letting people open their cars with keys? Just a suggestion.

Tesla appears not to have made any other public statement about the incident. The company put its support forums behind a regwall earlier in 2021 and owning a MuskMobile is a requirement for entry. Your correspondent is therefore unable to explore any official missives. Tesla's Twitter account is silent on the matter and the electric car biz doesn't bother with Facebook. The exact nature of the outage is therefore hard to divine."

had a colleague locked out of his Hyundai petrol powered van a few weeks ago ...

poo happens Lee. Don't like tesla, don't buy one. It's really not rocket science.

I don't know what you are hoping to achieve by trolling the web for anything negative about Tesla. Tell me what brand car you drive and I'll show you 100 negative experiences people have had with them ... grow up.

I have keyless entry the car can start if i have key in my pocket.

Unlike a Tesla i can still get in as car has key entry so i never get locked out unless i lose the key.

Teslas are a shitbox they can only be fixed by Tesla so if you have a problem they tow it back to Tesla as they don't allow other mechanics to fix them.

I wouldn't buy a Tesla simply because their build quality is pretty inconsistent. Mostly superficial stuff, panels and squeaks but things that just shouldn't happen in a car that price.

the colleague I mentioned couldn't get in WITH HIS KEY. Because he accidently locked it as he was getting out by hitting the door lock button near the door handle, it wouldn't allow him to open it from the outside even with a key, when he wanted to get in.

That's clearly a malfunction because cars should allow that sequence as it would happen all the time.

If i wanted a car that's cheap to run i would get the new Corolla hybrid it gets 4L/100 Km. The Mitsubishi SUV hybrid gets 2.7L /100Km it does around 60km on electric motor. You don't have to plug these cars in.

I was offered $125K  for my SS Torana i knocked it back. Faster than most modern cars turns more heads fun to drive and no complicated electrics requiring expensive scanners to diagnose. It does have fuel injection i can plug laptop in to diagnose sensor faults.

If he was trying to say was a system malfunction, fair enough but if he reckons the driver just happened to trigger a sequence that locks you out, nah.

Keep you head up your arse if you prefer, it's no skin off my nose.

Or do you really think Tesla is the only car maker whose components can go faulty? Cheesy Cheesy

Hey downer, you don't even understand what you wrote in your own post. Locking it from the inside had nothing to do with gaining access back in as that's a standard operation and had nothing to do with the subsequent fault so why even mention it?

Also try to spell accidentally more betterer next time, retard. BTW

Because he accidently locked it as he was getting out

No it wasn't. The system is designed to allow you to lock it from the inside.
The locking system just happened to break down at that point.

Wouldn't expect you and your retarded mate to understand that.

I wouldn't buy a Tesla simply because their build quality is pretty inconsistent. Mostly superficial stuff, panels and squeaks but things that just shouldn't happen in a car that price.

Our next cars will be EV, but that's still a few years away.  I'm hoping by then there is more than just the Teslas to choose from.

Hoping Toyota will come out with one, but they seem more interested in Hybrids.

Saw a clip yesterday (I think it was on facebook but I don't recall exactly) of some pom taking EV's out on a test drive to test their battery range. Amongst the cars involved were Mercs, leaf, Jag, Audi  and a couple of others that I don't recall right now and  the Telsa was the stand out winner.

Yeah, if I was forced to go EV today, it would be a Tesla.

But I'm hoping by the time I'm in the market, the others have caught up but not only that, I won't be beta testing their tech.
