With sufficient storages (plural - ie different localities) and PVs/wind farms (again different localities), plus smart grid, demand will always be met, by design (Nuclear might be needed to clinch the deal in some countries).

Hmm.. not too sure about that, I see...?

Right or wrong, see above.

Quote:
USA is responsible for the 70 million refugees?

Yes, since WW2 the US has overthrown democratically elected governments who wanted to eradicate poverty eg in the M.E.: Iran in 1953, the CIA overthrew popularly elected  Iranian government who wanted to nationalize the oil industry, to retain profits previously going to overseas investors in the UK and the US. In South America; CIA- backed installation of fascist Right wing governments, destroying the conditions for steady shared economic development in those nations.

Quote:
The USA is responsible for the oil based economy?

Of course; it was invented in the US, and  the US rejected the possibility of shared national development after WW2,  using the cold war as an excuse to destroy any nation who dared to break the US rules.

Quote:
Biden wants the Middle East to pump more oil. Europe wants Putin to pump more gas - But it is all USA's fault.

Since the end of the Cold war, the US has been on good terms with S Arabia, but Iran and Irag are different stories, both destroyed by the US. And of course the US is resisting Nord Stream 2, because relations with Russia are deteriorating again, after a brief thaw 1990 -2005.

So yes, since WW2,  dysfunctional economies in Central America and the ME, and "never ending wars"  - and the massive refugee problem  - are the consequences of US imperialism.

Not a bad bet....

$1.50 a litre for petrol? Exorbitant. And pensioners unable to afford heating in winter? Criminal....

See above. Those poisons might well cause mental as well as physical problems, apart from:

"Petrol sniffing is a major problem in Aboriginal communities across four Australian states. It destroys health and families".

I assumed (wrongly as it turns out) you had some knowledge of history.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_involvement_in_regime_change

"At the onset of the 20th century, the United States shaped or installed governments in many countries around the world, including neighbors Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

"Significant operations included the United States and United Kingdom-orchestrated 1953 Iranian coup d'état, the 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion targeting Cuba, and support for the overthrow of Sukarno by General Suharto in Indonesia".

"On September 11, 1973, President Allende was overthrown by the Chilean armed forces and national police, bringing to power the regime of Augusto Pinochet that ruled until 1990. The CIA, through Project FUBELT (also known as Track II), worked secretly to engineer the conditions for the coup. Whilst the U.S. initially denied any involvement, many relevant documents have been declassified in the decades since.

CIA criminals, the same mob who have crucified Assange.

Quote:
You really are that stupid.
That's not debate: the US is a criminal outfit which ignores international law, as shown above.

Quote:
really, really delusional.
So tell us about Xi and Putin. your lovely heroes.

See above: real history, not delusion. And in a world burdened by  self-interested US imperialism, leaders like Xi and Putin will no doubt react in less than admirable fashion.

It's time for all nations to submit to rule of law, maintained ultimately by a UNSC without veto.

https://www.energy-storage.news/worlds-largest-pumped-hydro-plant-project-progre...

World’s largest pumped hydro plant project progresses in Queensland, Australia
ByAndy Colthorpe. June 2023.

Key contracts have been awarded in Queensland, Australia, to work on what would be the world’s largest pumped hydro energy storage (PHES) plant.

As the state works towards ending its historical dependency on coal, the state government is behind the plan to build the 5GW Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Project, which would offer long-duration energy storage (LDES) over a 24-hour discharge duration.

When announced last year, the project was hailed as an “ambitious plan” by the International Hydropower Association,  which could be “an example to policy-makers around the world that we do not need to seek out new technology to bring the climate crisis under control, nor do we need to fall back on fossil fuels,” according to the association’s chief executive Eddie Rich.

Wow, more than twice the size of Snowy 2. ...some engineering vision in Oz?

5GW divide 24. So 200KWh. The highest daily use was 8,891MW in 24 hours and with EV's etc it can only grow. Of course they will have to pump uphill again.

That 8,891 equates to 370MWh. Seems someone is going dark if renewables fall short even for only 1 day. Wink

An interconnected grid will draw on other PVs, wind and storage, not just the Burdekin project.

Yes. But don't forget wind turbines get shuttered when the wind is too strong as well. And then there are cyclones. Too much wind, too much cloud. Roll Eyes

"Climate influence on compound solar and wind droughts in Australia"

"We find that compound solar and wind droughts occur most frequently in winter, affecting at least five significant energy-producing regions simultaneously on 10% of days. The associated weather systems vary by season and by drought type, although widespread cloud cover and anticyclonic circulation patterns are common features. Indices of major climate modes are not strong predictors of grid-wide droughts, and are typically within one standard deviation of the mean during seasons with the most widespread events. However, the spatial imprints of the teleconnections display strong regional variations, with drought frequencies varying by more than ten days per season between positive and negative phases of climate modes in some regions."

Hence the need for interconnectors with the rest of the Oz grid.

Five signicant energy producing regions? What about the rest which haven't even been  developed yet.

Widespread cloud cover and no wind, over and around all of Oz? Then we will need sufficient green hydrogen  storage,  to cover power generation on those days, if the nation's pumped-hydro-storage capacity is insufficient.

Waffle.

Massive onshore/offshore wind,  massive PV rollout including rooftop solar,  all interconnected will account for  "drought frequencies varying by more than ten days per season between positive and negative phases of climate modes in some regions."

In some regions - see high-lighted above.

Many more are required.

Not "overbuild". every roof-top solar needs to be connected in the national grid (plus home batteries).

Quote:
Which ones? You do know that the renewables generators have already picked the eyes out of the best places? That leaves lower quality places. Roll Eyes

er.....much of the entire Oz desert lands  north of the tropic of capricorn, which have massive solar and wind resources thus far minimally developed.

Quote:
Oh dear. Now you want interconnectors all around Australia, no matter the cost.

The "cost" is immaterial to save the planet; the currency-issuing governement's  treasury can fund the transition at no cost to the Oz taxpayer, mobilization of available resources and knowhow is key.

Quote:

Nuclear is not cost effective for Oz's small population, and it's an 'always on' proposition.  Hydrogen plants can be turned on and off as required.

Well there goes the environment. Roll Eyes

Offshore wind? And  transition lines lines can be underground. But of ocurse, if you don't want to save the planet....

Hence hydrogen power plants (plus pumped hydro storage plus batteries) - with hydrogen produced by excess solar during the day (from integrated rooftop solar) - to power the grid through the night.

First you have to make the hydrogen. Hydrogen that's explosive in a wide range of ratios. And it leaks. Roll Eyes

SO according to freediver and wiki nuclear is too expensive at $81-82/MWh, but offshore wind at up to $216MWh isn't.  Roll Eyes

Read my comment above about offshore wind. And you are still thinking climate crisis. It is not. It never has in the past when CO2 was 8000ppm as against 420ppm. So what has changed? Has CO2 changed its characteristics? Roll Eyes

You definitely are no engineer. The Cultana solar plant has a nameplate capacity of 280MW. It has a probable 30% capacity factor as it has a single axis from east to west. That would mean a 90MW output, and yet they are going to supply the hydrogen hub with 200MW of power. The excess solar during the day is coming from where? Home solar? But they need that to charge their EV's. Roll Eyes

Climate  - The Movie.
This film exposes the climate alarm as an invented scare without any basis in science. It shows that mainstream studies and official data do not support the claim that we are witnessing an increase in extreme weather events – hurricanes, droughts, heatwaves, wildfires and all the rest. It emphatically counters the claim that current temperatures and levels of atmospheric CO2 are unusually and worryingly high. On the contrary, compared to the last half billion years of earth’s history, both current temperatures and CO2 levels are extremely and unusually low. We are currently in an ice age. It also shows that there is no evidence that changing levels of CO2 (it has changed many times) has ever ‘driven’ climate change in the past.
