Solar Panels going up...
Oct 8th, 2021 at 8:21am

Knock on the door at 7.21 am, Gang of Four Chinese arrived with my 7.7Kw/7.5Kw Inverter system - working like beavers and look like getting it up and running in three hours..... last lot took nearly a day for a smaller system.

Big truck with several systems onboard - two a day seems reasonable for them.

Grid connect - batteries a bit out of the budget and we're old anyway... be gone before they are paid off.

7.5 Inverter should keep us in the black, and with a new line in from the pole it will carry it.  Producing only 1.8 or so with cloud at the moment.

Two hours!!  Busy little beavers working as a team.  Ding Hao!!

I thought you could only export 5Kw. You can have what you like on the roof and use it or waste it but could only export 5.

Perhaps this belongs in tech.

No real idea, just got a letter in the last week saying I was getting a free upgrade to a 7.5Kw.  Runs the house and exports the 5 I'd guess.  Was running at 6.1 this morning, 1+Kw left to run frigges and pump when it comes on.... and my computer.

What took you so long Grappler, they have been proven to be a winner for over a quarter of a century now.

Swapped the petrol for a diesel.... much more economical @ turbo V6 built around a Land Rover engine that had faults with the heads in early models.  Later model without all the 'bugs' Ford installed in the earlier models.... front lower ball joints not worth a rat's; rear diff cradle bushes not worth 1c a dozen or a truckload.  Not as good with the data on computer re consumption of fuel etc, but tells me how many km I can still travel at my current usage.  Still trying to figure out how to zero the trip meter... fill up range is 820 km compared to an alleged 600 or so for the petrol, today I calculated we only used 5+l/100 on home run - highway running, and average is about 8.5/100km.  It's AWD as well, meaning lower diff ratios and greater pulling power, but I don't do much 'off-road' stuff or towing caravans and such anyway.  Ex government vehicle with 100k on the clock - diesel just run in.....

Still got that transmission 'bump' when you change too quickly... HTF did Ford engineer in so many faults after all these years?  Gonna fit a big pair of driving lights on a rack on the roof... best way... and we have deer and cattle and kangaroos all over the place here so you need good lighting after sunset.  And for some reason peacocks!!!  WTF?

I DO wish people would stop running over snakes - they eat vermin..... and don't bite you unless you corner them.

This is the second home I had them installed on - the first was over the objections of the ex, who ended up loving the small bills... when the guys knocked on the door and said they were here to install the system, her jaw dropped.

Now she's happy to have them and can run the air con to control her temperature fluctuations, any time she wants.  This house, new build, is very heat effective and we hardly use the air con yet.  Also on water tanks and septic.....

Big system @7.7kwH and 7.5 kwH inverter.... means during daylight hours I send that 5 kwH into the grid per hour on a good day, and run the house on the rest.

7.21 am they knocked and by 9.30 they were finished.

The last fitout was two blokes and took four times as long.  These guys know their stuff.

Be careful of the warranty fine print. I have seen reports that some lose their warranty if not washed by professionals.

"Some solar panel manufacturers require regular cleaning to keep the warranty valid. They want to see the documentation that you have had your solar panels cleaned every six months before they will honor the warranty. This is because professional solar panel cleaners prevent dust, dirt, and debris from causing damage to your solar panels."
