The CCP is well aware of past mistakes and has no intention of repeating them; it has too many other tasks in advancing the nation's well-being, rather than teaching past mistakes to the present generation.

The real reason the CCP wants to keep its citizens in the dark about the Great Chinese famine is so that it can repeat those mistakes at will. It does not have the wellbeing of the Chinese people at heart.

For example it cannot keep the lights on, not for any real lack of ability or resources, but in order save face on the global playing field. Of course, it is the Chinese people who suffer as a result.

Another example - under-reporting of covid deaths. This no doubt leads to more deaths from covid, as the country will not provide resources to save the lives of its own citizens if it is lying to itself about whether they are dying. This is pretty much the exact same cause as the great Chinese famine - internal party politics causing regional leaders to misreport what is actually happening.

Only problem is, they believe their own propaganda, and try to boast about the low death rate:

It's like the CCP boasting about how well fed the Chinese people are while 50 million of them starve to death.

This is why the CCP is so hostile to both democracy and basic freedoms, like freedom of the press, and publishes so much absurd propaganda against them. Both would save the lives of countless Chinese people, but it would come at the cost of CCP leaders losing face and the CCP losing power. Ironically, the CCP champions both democracy and free and open debate within the party as the best way of managing it.

The CCP would literally prefer to kill Chinese people in large numbers than face reality.

"Just finished explaining" ....what? The mistakes of the pre 1980's are long past. Now whether you believe current stats is up to you.

All of this is bullshit.  I've travelled through china.  There was lots of food and the lights worked.

Not so true in rural areas. Poverty is prevalent.

Follow laowhy86 and serpentza. They lived 10 and 14 years, respectively in China. Both speak and read fluent Mandarin. Both worked extensively in China (including inadvertently for the CCP as 'white monkeys'). Both married Chinese citizens. Both had Chinese-descent children. Both left China due to surveillance by the CCP.

I am listening to two people who have a deep appreciation of Chinese culture and society and have had extensive personal experience dealing with the CCP and its apparatchiks.

Follow Drew Pavlou's issues with the CCP and its growing obsession with him.

That's great for the Chinese people, though I here the lights have stopped working since the CCP decided to punish Australia by not buying our coal.

Which part do you think is BS?

All the china bashing is basically racism.  We all know it

Did you know the CCP requires every Chinese to identify their ethnicity which it prints on their registration card?

The Nazis did that too.

One quick google, eh!

Why would the CCP require Chinese citizens to formally identify their ethnicity?

The issue is I never claimed China was perfect.  I just said a lot of the lies told about them are based on racism.

i've never heard that claim, I googled and found frankly nothing claiming it was true.  Got a link? Is it Sky News?

The issue is not China or the Chinese; it's the CCP, which is a neo-fascist, ethno-chauvinistic mob of gangsters.

Pavlou's political party which includes Uighur- and Tibetan-Australians who expressed their relief after becoming Australian citizens that, for the first time in their life, their formal identities do not include their respective ethnicity.
