NSW records 1,533 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths
as total infections in Wilcannia near 100

NSW broke its own COVID-19 records for a second consecutive day after 1,533 new infections, and four deaths, were identified in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.
Key points:

Yesterday was the second busiest day on record for NSW Ambulance
Health authorities continue to be concerned by case numbers in regional areas
Lifeline's John Brogden said the organisation was receiving more than 1,000 calls per day from people in NSW

While most of them were in Sydney's west and south-west, there is increasing concern about the deteriorating situation in the state's regional areas, where the virus is continuing to spread.

In the tiny town of Wilcannia, which has a high Indigenous population and is about 950km west of Sydney, almost 100 people have tested positive over the course of NSW's Delta outbreak.

Nine new infections yesterday brought the total number of cases in Wilcannia to 97 — that means roughly 13 per cent of people in the town have the virus.

It's because of the shoddy testing system in Sydney, releasing travelers and truckies to roam around Regional LGAs before test results come in. Just one guy spread it to Dubbo and Walgett, he wasn't Arab, but he does have an ethnic name, Greek or Russian it sounded like. Dubbo now has 540 cases as a result of that one bloke

https://www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/politics/2021/09/04/exclusive-covid-19-...

On Thursday, the state reported almost 1000 people with Covid-19 were in hospital and 160 of those were receiving the most complex form of healthcare in intensive care units.

But that figure leaves out almost 1700 people who are receiving hospital-grade care for coronavirus in their own homes in NSW. Most of those are being monitored by staff from the swamped Westmead Hospital in the state’s Western Sydney Local Health District. Under these arrangements, patients who would otherwise be on the hospital ward are instead given oxygen and other support at home with scheduled visits from hospital staff.

At least eight people in the state have died at home since the Delta outbreak began. Some, who were being given home care, deteriorated so quickly from mild illness to death that there was no time for even an ambulance to be called. The coroner is investigating these deaths.

NSW records 1,485 new locally acquired
COVID-19 cases, three deaths

NSW identified 1,485 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases  and three people have died in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.
Key points:

Two out of three people who died overnight had not been vaccinated for COVID-19
Public health modelling to be released this week predicts cases to peak within the next fortnight
Western NSW recorded 32 new cases, including 23 in Dubbo

It comes as Premier Gladys Berejiklian welcomed another milestone for the state, with 40 per cent of the population fully vaccinated.

"We should remember that while we are anticipating the peak of cases to occur in the next couple of weeks, we can foreshadow that once we hit the 70 per cent double dose that life will feel much better in NSW," she said.

There are currently 1,030 people in hospital with the virus, including 175 in intensive care.

Seventy-two of those require ventilation.

The one person who died and who had one jab, had no underlying adverse health conditions

The motormouths were trying to explain it away on TV

It seems that half of Sydney is holidaying on the Central Coast this weekend.
