The virus we seem to hide from in the last 18 months has seen the deaths of 950 people in Australia. And yet, when 900+ people die from influenza in the year 2017, no lockdowns occur.

We have just killed off our economic growth and halted our run of two decades without a recession, just to keep the elderly happy.

Mainly due to the stoppage of overseas travellers having to quarantine before moving about the community in Australia. Lockdowns in Australia would mean that those with the virus would be kept in one place to recover. But there is no reason for me to think that the virus could not escape quarantine or be passed on to a new person that quarantines in that place.
