Fair enough Sprint....The olympics show the limits of human performance and give people a sense of pride in their country....I enjoy the competition???

With half the country under house arrest at least there will be something worthwhile to watch on the idiot box for a while.

One to lookout for will be the women's beach handball competition, there has already been controversy in this sport with the Norwegian team being fined for going with hot pants instead of bikini bottoms

Is that because there are no sprint cycling events?

I like the 100m,  200m and 400m sprints.
The diving is quite good and so is gymnastics.
There should be something in this for everyone
unless they are a wet blanket.

What a great win .... no one ever expected Australia to beat them so convincingly. Argentina is a soccer powerhouse.

I watched the game John....Australia hit the lead after a couple of minutes and Argentina were relentless trying to equal....The diving and rolling around on the ground like they had been hit by a truck was bullshit from both teams....The second goal was icing on the cake and Argentina knew they were beaten....What a huge upset!!!

No worries Sprint....Sport is less polarized than politics and most people get behind the National team....I have friends who believe sport is a waste of time....Each to their own hey???

I have to agree with cods and Sprint: the Olympics are boring and anachronistic.

I honestly don't see what there is to get excited about.

However, if it makes some people happy that's great.

Personally though, I'd rather watch paint dry.

I hardly watch sport but I like the Olympics for no other reason than knowing how much preparation and sacrifice the competitors (most) have made and that often, they get just one shot at it.

To them, it's the highest possible achievement in their field, not just something to flick to when The Bachelor finishes. So put aside your dislike of the corrupt IOC and all the blah, and just view it from the POV of the competitors.

This Olympics my family knows two competitors and have a pretty good idea about what they've been thru to get where they are.  Go them Smiley
