Acquaintances Who Died of Covid
Jul 16th, 2021 at 9:50pm

Has this been discussed here? Two friends lost one parent each to Covid. A restaurant owner down the street from me died of it.

And I had an elderly client in my office last February who suddenly bolted into the toilet and started retching and asked me to call the ambulance. A day later he was dead too.

Oh Covid virus is real, no doubt. Just as Flu virus is real.
I know many that got flu, and personally know some that died from the flu.

I only know one elderly woman in her 90s that got COVID but it was like a little sniffle if anything. While other elderly around her died from it.

Give it time, in due course the flu and COVID will be neck to neck.
If they reported all deaths from the seasonal flu, we would be in shock, but one or two die from Covid this year and we went into a full tailspin and go into national lockdown.

Like flu, it’s a chance game with covid…both can be deadly or… many will recover.
There is the flu vax yet people still die within a short time from flu.
Same will be with covid vax.
It’s time … we learnt to live with both viruses.
It’s time … to say hello to the new virus in town folks. It’s here to stay. 99.8% chance you will recover if you get it.

Old acquaintances never die, they just smell that way...

Sorry - couldn't help myself.  Always aspired to be a wit and probably half way there by now..

now LOLS

that just has too much common sense.

how could a politician say that.

all political speeches have to include the word "safe" at least 5 times.

yours didnt have the word safe once.

the chodes would see your speech as heartless, cruel and lacking compassion .
bwian would be upset you didnt mention aboriginals.
mothra would be upset you didnt mention how covid will affect transgenders
sad marsupial will be upset you didnt mention scomos slow vaccine rollout.
gweggy and karnal will be upset you didnt blame it on trump
north will be upset you didnt blame the chinese.

common sense is very upsetting to the chode

Two more acquaintances ... dead from Covid: a few weeks back the local deputy fire chief died of Covid, a youngish man, very fit and ... unvaccinated.

Now our local county tax commissioner is dead, a woman, late middle-age and seemingly healthy until she wasn'tt ...and unvaccinated.

What I am seeing now is that their vaccination status, or lack of it, isn't being discussed. No, it is all hush-hush but everyone knows the truth.

And I suspect other local anti-vaxxers are secretly getting jabbed ...

I've lost family and friends in the US, and a much closer family member is still suffering in Singapore more than 6 months after her infection.

You've picked the wrong venue to talk about this, there are too many people here who will use this thread for their own selfish reasons or make fun of, or even claim the people you've lost wasn't because of COVID and all part of the conspiracy.

This place is filth.

Indeed.

The lies (and misinformation) coming from certain forum members here are dangerous and really need to stop.

It's actually getting to the point where I'm noticing changes in myself because of it.

I'm a calm and logical person who values evidence over opinion, but after the barrage of misinformation and such a selfish total disregard for human life, dresses as the absolute opposite that is "the new normal" here, I'm noticing changes, changes I don't like.

The topic of this thread is one of them.  It's pretty obvious that the family I have in the US, both in Florida and Texas, my god, without the misinformation they would not have experienced the sort of tragedy they've gone through and ffs are going through all over again now.

Don't get me wrong, this place has been full of some of the worst of the worst for a long time but usually around racism, sexism and discrimination towards the LGBT community, which as toxic as that all is, it doesn't cause the sort of damage the COVID misinformation does.

But, if you handed me a button that would kill the poster, say scoot, to stop their dangerous rhetoric around COVID, I'd be tempted to press it.

Like, for real.  I'm ashamed of it, but I'm not going to lie.

It's too much for me.  I took months away from here and it was the best thing I ever did, and I think I'll do it again.

I don't like the person this place is changing me into.

I fight against misinformation because it leads to people not only hurting themselves but others.

The Gold Coast appears to have dodged another nuclear-sized bullet with the family who snuck back across the border after travelling from and through hot zones, deliberately avoiding checkpoints and then sent their kids to school the next day who were stupid enough to brag about their trip getting the attention of the authorities and they're now in hotel quarantine.

But they refused to take a test or assist Queensland Health in revealing their movements to help contact trace because of this sort of misinformation.

The school is in lockdown, and we're lucky they finally accepted the tests and they came back negative, for now.  It could have been South East Queensland going into lockdown.

But they don't need to follow the rules because Facebook or their religious leader said so.

Nah, it's not good enough.  We all have made sacrifices for the good of our communities and people undo all of that by doing things like this, or the forced border crossings and protests all thanks to misinformation spread by those like the usual suspects here.

I will still monitor the Fringe but I think it's time to take a break from this and the US forum.

I'll have to think about it.

Do you ever stay on the same field, let alone use the same goal posts?

But you know what, I don't care anymore.

For my own health, let's just pretend you've not fought every health measure from the start, pushed for actions that personally benefit you at the cost of the lives of others and have only ever said, people should be vaccinated and live a healthy life, because at least on there with those two measures we can at least agree.
