Even tho he's dead, I'm sure the bloody software will be sneaking onto my system for years to come.

lol... I hadn't seen McAfee antivirus, etc. for years until I bought a little Lenovo laptop a few weeks ago, it was included with the 'bundled software' but was wiped out when I updated Windows 10 to the latest 21H1 release (the laptop was about two W10 releases out of date) and chose not to keep any apps or files during the update.

I used a USB stick with 21H1 on it to update... I wasn't offered it via Windows Update for some reason and it probably would have taken ages to do it that way anyway.

I remember many years ago when someone referred to McAfee software as "McCrapforafee".  Grin

McAfee is one of the better antivirus products.

Funny how things go. Forever Norton's was the garbage product but today it rates as about the best.

I remember  way back when Norton had a comprehensive security suit, the only problem was that if you were running it the computer would not have enough resources left to do anything else.

Having bought a Lenovo computer a few weeks ago, I have also experienced the recent McAfee antivirus. I had my copy of Trend Micro from my old computer that I could not start. So, I transferred my subscription over to my new computer. I did not even bother to keep using McAfee for free with my new computer, as my old subscription was running out as I had limited time to use the antivirus on Trend Micro. McAfee just gave me the shivering sensation of it being not worth my time.

People told me that Norton was the best comprehensive security. But, with the recent requirement to have a credit card number inputted to have the Norton work, I had to go with a different antivirus. Whatever problem I had with my computer was solved using Norton.

I haven't heard that name for years ... when was the last time I owned a PC?

Am sure the nutters will now be saying, "McAfee didn't kill himself."

Who do you reckon had more fun in life, John McAfee or Peter Norton?

I never knew Norton was an actual human being

Norton spent around five years in a Buddhist monastery in the San Francisco Bay area during the 1970s
