Cuba and the end of the Castro Dynasty
Jun 7th, 2021 at 9:23am

With the resignation of 90-year-old Raul Castro, the Castro regime is finally at an end.

The new president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, may be showing signs of reversing Cuba's disastrous socialist experiment in favour of capitalism and democracy, in return for trust and good relations with the United States.

Díaz-Canel has approved legal status for private businesses whose operators were previously designated as 'self-employed'. This would legitimise over at least 2000 business sectors.

It is a move in the right direction, however, the government still retains control of many crucial areas of the economy, like tourism, tobacco production, pharmaceutical production and health care.

Also, private business are still prohibited from the media and communications sector.

Fidel Castro may have cultivated a titanic persona and had charisma in spades, but he was a midget in managing his country's economy and incapable of the kind of international relations that would have aided his country in favour of revolutionary grandstanding, aggrandising himself and satiating his gargantuan ego.

Grandstanding, aggrandising himself and satiating his gargantuan ego. Genomically, Castros aggregate aggrieved geopolitical gerontocracies , generating agglutinated gigacracy.

Plenty of classic cars going back to the thirties they reckon ....

Russian diesel engines in American yank tanks

"The original engines are almost always tweaked, and many cars have Soviet engines powered by diesel."

Eh?
F Castro was named Havana’s outstanding schoolboy sportsman in 1943–44, and he excelled in track and field (in the high jump and middle-distance running), baseball, basketball, and table tennis. In 1945 he entered the School of Law of the University of Havana, graduated 1950.

it doesn't take a good economist to thrive when you're faced with trade sanctions against you.......... it takes a miracle.

rubbish. No diplomat would change a thing. The only thing that would change the sanctions would be if they started giving in to the yanks.

The antithesis.
shut off, block-out, hide, screen-off, mask, obscure.

Each testicle is housed in a fibrous outer covering called the tunica albuginea, which is contained within a sac of skin called the scrotum.
