The only skill is to up the size of the bet when you're winning

When you win 50% more than the amount you initially put in, then that is the time to check out. I won $55 after playing a few spins betting 30c spins. Five in a row let me win $60 and loss of $5 from my initial investment. The chance of winning those 5 in a row bonus spins is outside at best. Only done that twice in the last 8 years. Play conservatively.

Kind of strange how these pokie machines operate, I never heard anyone who lost money playing them.

The win-loss ratios were fairly even at one stage. I had an afternoon where I wanted to eat up an hour before work. I played at a nearby tavern and put in $5. After a few 10c spins, I got this 5 x wild card free spins feature. $160 won. That saved me a trip to the ATM the next day.

After a while, I started to get hooked and wanted to get those bigger wins. I put in $20 and played $0.50 spins. Sometimes I won. Other times I lost. I started to lose more than I won for a while. I might only lose $100 a week at most before giving up. So, it was not that bad. I had a few occasional $500+ wins and that did a lot of good.

Passed those years, I gave up as I felt that it was an addiction that I had to overcome with busy work. I only play occasionally in the last couple of years. For now, I have won most of the sessions. But I think I might quit whilst I am ahead.
