Those are "noble righties", dear. Noble Gordon, noble Rhino, jolly noble Valkie (Matty).
In reality, there has been no ideology in this debate. Noble righties and despicable leftards alike have, by and large, in most countries, acted on the advice of health experts.
This is what we want politics to be - a rational, well-informed discussion of policy, carried out in the interest of all citizens.
In Australia, the political debate about covid hasn't taken ideological lines at all, which leaves those in the business of culture wars out of a job.
The one country where this was tried, where even mask-wearing was turned into a political statement, the president was sent BACK TO WHERE HE CAME FROM.
Yes, the noble Donald was thrown out on his noble arse for playing culture wars with covid. His ads for hydrochloraquine, his proposals of bleach injections and his careless infection of others including his own staff, Dear Leader was shown the door for: (a) talking down a pandemic in the interest of trade negotiations, (b) sitting on his hands while covid took out half a million people, (c) being incapable of showing leadership in a national crisis, and (d) being caught flat-out lying.
So yes, while you might
want a health debate along ideological lines, you'll note that no one's biting. The rest of us are over culture wars and just want to get on with discussing the policies. Covid has shown us how important governments are, and how politics can work -
must work.
Fox News has lost its teeth, and the influence of News Ltd is waning. The American voters stood up to Fox when they threw out Trump. Now, politicians can move onto other policy areas such as global warming. Tucker, Hannity and Miranda Devine will still be shrieking, but the rest of us can just get on with the job. We need our governments, whatever their stripes, to act.
Whether you're a Tory, Labor, Democrat, Republican or CCP doesn't matter. Yes, the virtue-signallers will continue to have their hissies, but we don't have to be shouted down.
That's the lesson of covid, dear. While you'll keep playing righties and leftards, the jig's up, we know. We face immediate health, economic and climate crises.
We need our governments more than ever. We need to come together and stop virtue signalling.
You?
we need our governments more then ever.
typical leftie.
government creates a problem and then offers itself up as the solution to the problem.
no thank you.
