Amazing Musical Instruments
Mar 26th, 2021 at 12:15am

I'll start.
The Yaybahar (created by Gorkem Sen)
Very amazing innovation that is now being widely used in Movie soundtracks and video games.
So versatile in its sounds and the different variations in the types of Yaybahars coming out with different effects altogether.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

For many years, I was fascinated with the pianola playing itself!

Then I was into Tibetan singing and crystal music bowls some years back...it’s therapeutical with resonance to our souls.

Now...there’s a whole lot weird and wonderful musical instruments invented that are incredibly amazing!!
(Hopefully YouTube will work for me as I hadn’t been able to put up links recently to work properly)
Here is a resonant chamber.

Wow. Thanks for sharing too.
That's amazing, even if anime. I could see a robotic version sometime. Good collection of strings and their plucky nature.
Tibetan singing  Cool
Crystal Music Bowls eh?
Do they have water in them?
I've looked up a few clips and it does sound trance-ambient resonating. Pretty neat and simply clever.

Having had the ‘privilege’ of hearing close up a Tibetan ‘singing bowl’ some years ago I found, after the first few minutes of somewhat hypnotic seduction, I’d taken on a vicious migraine. The monks told be this was because ‘Chase your demons away’. One particularly evangelical poster on this forum would probably disagree.

Can do  Smiley
I haven’t though. I just like them as they are without water mess.
For fun, when out, I do it with crystal wine glasses too... ting it, then rub finger around rim of glass for a light vibrating sound.
Here’s a short vid of a Tibetan brass bowl filled with water.
Amazing how vibration does that to water, makes it dance!
Imagine how it’s vibrating our body where we are primarily made up of a high percentage of water.

Love this demo. Explains it.

I found certain tones of the bowls, depending on size, felt more in tune resonating with me than others.
It’s about helping your chakras too.
I go to this crystal place where the owner has a factory now, she imports so many unusual items. The singing crystal bowls she has in a waiting area where you can play them and see which one gets you.
For me, it just had to be an expensive one didn’t it!
I mean several hundred $$$

Have bought a medium size one and it’s okay, but the bigger, the more resonating it is.

I have a smaller brass one that’s near the entry door, so people come in and if curious or tempted, can be shown how to use them.
It’s good fun.

the clips wouldn't come up yet. You might have a delay, I've noticed. They might come up tomorrow.

But it does sound interesting. Unsubrocky might be on to something though. Maybe certain resonances work for certain people. Some might be comfortable with higher pitch or something?

An ambient trick is to sleep with two speakers either side of the bedhead and have resonating sounds 'massage' the sleeping mind/brain. There are millions of Musicians around the world that produce a lot of this stuff and more.
I don't mind the Mozarts, Bachs, Tchaikovsky's and such - but I prefer modern composers with modern sounds.
There must be something good about it, if so many Musically talented get into this rather than trying to be the next Pop star, etc.

Love the didgeridoo!
Many years ago, I wanted to try it, but was advised women must not do it for some bad reason. So I never tried it since.
Maybe it was just old fashioned superstitions but now I see many females are doing didgeridoo.

That looks complicated to use!
I wonder how many different sounds it has in its own?

I’m glad you mentioned it... today I was looking at heaps of didgeridoo music and came across this.... let’s take “a trip to a music store”  Grin
