believe it or not , this has actually been studied. People who fast for Ramadan generally lose around a half kilo of weight over a month. So no, as you are aware half a kilo of weight loss isnt going to make any obese person look less obese. The study shows they put it back on after Ramadan anyway. But yeh, your hypotheses is wrong.

Oh yeah, I agree with this, Ive lived in Muslim countries , didnt notice anyone getting any skinnier during Ramadan.

Academic sources have said that watching violent movies cause people to become violent people because of the increased aggression the viewer has after watching the movie. But, I don't take those "twinkie defences" to heart.

Having done fasts in the past, I know from first-hand experience that if you go without food for 12 hours a day, whether you sleep through the fasting, or have nothing to eat after breakfast until an evening meal, you will lose weight. Over a period of time, your body adjusts to when you eat and when you fast. You lose fat from your fat cells -- Your body undergoes ketosis. You do that over a period of 28 days, it is not unrealistic to about 5kg. I call bs on 0.5kg weight loss in a month, that the academics claim happens after Ramadan.

Someone who partakes in fasting for the daylight hours for 28 days of the year will still have the results of weight loss with them for months after they have finished the fasting period. Though you will obviously put on weight if you revert back to a high caloric diet. However, having lost weight in the past, I know that it is usually a casual climb in weight over a number of months that leads to gaining back an obese or even an overweight physique.

The guy accused of the gun massacre looks like he has not done a fast for a while. And even if the man did have an Islamic faith and one committed enough to participate in Ramadan, he probably does not have the resolve to be part of Ramadan or even use Islam as a reason why he committed that tragedy.

If you are directing that comment at me, I already know this. It is part of my point. I can go 8 hours sleeping and then 5 hours without a meal. Breakfast might be a biggish meal. Lunch might be a light meal. Dinner might be a big meal. But, I can still lose weight.
