Hamit Coskun, 51, shouted ‘bugger Islam’ as he set fire to the text outside the Turkish consulate in London in February.


After being convicted of a religiously aggravated public order offence and fined £240 in June, he appealed – and a judge has now ruled that Mr Coskun has a ‘right to offend’.

Mr Justice Bennathan told Southwark Crown Court: ‘Burning a Koran may be an act that many Muslims find desperately upsetting and offensive.

‘The criminal law, however, is not a mechanism that seeks to avoid people being upset. We live in a liberal democracy. One of the precious rights that affords us is to express our own views… without the state intervening to stop us doing so.

‘The price we pay for that is having to allow others to exercise the same rights, even if that upsets, offends or shocks us.’

Mr Coskun said he burned the Koran to highlight how Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s constitutionally secular government had become an ‘Islamist regime’.

However during his protest, he was attacked by Moussa Kadri, 59, with a knife who later told police he was protecting his religion.

On Thursday last week the group of academics, students, and a rabbi were gathered on Gadigal Green, one of the university’s smaller green spaces, to celebrate the traditional Jewish holiday of Sukkoth, when the incident occurred about 2pm.

Sarah Aamidor, who teaches biology on campus, said Ms Nakad had yelled “Free Palestine” towards the Sukkoth stall. “Everybody was shocked, and I said out loud ‘this is a Jewish holiday and saying something like this is anti-Semitic’ and that was the point that she turned around and walked back to me,” she said.

Dr Aamidor said there was not any Israeli paraphernalia nor references to the war in Gaza on the stall, which “was deliberate”.

Footage showed Ms Nakad, who referred to herself as an Indigenous ­Palestinian, then turned around, walked towards the group and launched a four-minute rant, ­saying Israel was “shredding ­children”.




So Muslims equate all Jews with Israel but one must not equate all Muslims with Islam coz that would be 'islamophobia'. Bbwiyawnesque.

Now there's the whole problem.  Islam is a complete belief system that encompasses all aspects of life - religious, political, legal, economic, social, educational, ethical, etc etc. 

Multiculturalism is a complete failure. It has just created multi parallel societies with the worst being Islam which will not bow down to any dominant culture in the host nation nor even pay lip service to the fact that cultures should at least try to adapt to the host nation if they want to be part of a harmonious society. So what is the point of moving to another country only to judge and shame the culture you decided to join and to enforce that kind of hate on your kids. But that's Islam's way.

They will never assimilate - they're not here to do that.  In fact the only assimilating will be to their religion once they get the numbers.  And that is what they are committed to - whether that be in 50, 500 or 5000 years.  They know that eventually they will get their global caliphate because they have a determination not inherent in the host nation. 

Ask the average Australian it they support Multiculturalism and they'll reply, "Yes!"  They have seen the previous efforts at monoculturalism and it's failures.  To the average Australian, asking them to be tolerant to their neighbours is easier than being intolerant.  Only fools like you two preach intolerance.  Most Muslims are peaceful and just want to be left alone to worship their God there way.  Only fools believe they can be intolerant and get away with it without repercussions to the broader society.
