Bats in the Shed
Mar 15th, 2021 at 9:48am

Yesterday my wife pointed out to me that two birds were building a nest in our shed. I wondered aloud "How did they get in?" as the shed door seldom is opened. She pointed out to me the ventilation grille had come loose and I watched a bird fly right in. As I was standing in the shed I heard little squeaks behind a built in shelf. Clearly a mammal of some sort. I got the ladder to take a look at the top of the shelf and found nothing but a very narrow gap between the wall and the shelving. As far as I can tell, that is the only entrance to where I heard the squeaks. Not sure what kind of animal could be behind the shelf I left and gave it no more thought.

Today my wife went into a storage space under the house and came out with a plastic bucket with a live bat inside. As soon as I saw it I knew what the squeaks were behind the shelf.

I went and repaired the shed's ventilation grille and left the door open to let the bats fly out tonight.

But what if they fly right back in? I don't want to trap them there to die and I don't want to create a home for them either.

You need to ask Bobby the Bat(man) of old. He'll know.

Nail a bloody bat on your neighbour's door - the one you dislike. Declare them cursed with the Wuhan-Magic.
