Perhaps you might consider being less of a smartass when I tell you what I've been doing for the past hour?

Had a call from my former boss who I worked with for over 18 years, he's had a phone call from his sister in the UK to tell him that his brother in law has just died from Covid. He was 79.

The hospital tried everything they could to save him but to no avail. His wife is OK at the moment although she doesn't understand how he caught it and she didn't.

She said that the Covid situation in the UK at the moment is unbelievably bad. My former boss would, of course, have been travelling to the UK this week to attend the funeral but he can't, of course.

Something to think about.

Many of the idiots here have no idea how bad it is in Europe.

South Africa suspends rollout of AstraZeneca vaccine but Australia says it's not concerned

1. We still have the Pfizer one.

2. Protection against moderate-severe disease, hospitalisation or death could not be assessed in this study as the target population were at such low risk," the statement read.

So lack of data in that study, not evidence against

Yeah, ask for a Pfizer jab, $25 against $5 for Oxford, Pfizer must be better

The Pfizer purchase is additional, the Govt will probably use up all the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine before they go jabbing a much more expensive one in arms

to the intervention: transverse myelitis occurring
14 days after a ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 booster vaccination,
haemolytic anaemia in a control recipient, and fever

68 days after vaccination. The transverse myelitis

participants have recovered or are recovering.
Long term adverse effects. They gonna do this in a  few weeks?

A low-sugar, low-fat diet. 8 hours sleep per 'night'. Regular exercise that includes at least 1km jog. And having a splash of apple cider vinegar in a large glass mug of water. That is about all it is with my knowledge of health.

As for vaccinations, I got vaccinated in my youth, and in high school. Then I had a few vaccinations in 2019 in preparation for working in a better job. If I wanted to know more about health, I would have read up on it by now.

Yeah, I know. It only contributes to my health and well-being so that the risk of catching a virus is reduced or mitigated in duration.

EWoe a 1 km jog. Colour me impressed. Oh wait i did 100 km on the bike then went to the gym today

A 1km jog down the road is better than sitting at home and watching movies like I did last night. Run the first kilometre in 4 minutes. Walk the last 3km in 30 minutes. Not concerned about riding 100 km just to prove something to other posters.

This frickin' coronavirus shite might be a big concern for the elderly and those with compromised immunity. But, for the rest of us, the virus has been nothing but a hassle for being social, and monotony of repetitive information from the media.

Give the elderly and compromised immunity patients the vaccination for covid. Then leave it for the rest of us to make our own decisions.
I hate to break it to you but the obese and diabetics have "compromised" immunity. Fairly sure that includes you.

Fairly sure that 8 months of malnutrition over the last year up until January this year would not have done so much damage to my body that the worst that came of it was some occasional sleeplessness.

I had a cold for the first time in 3 years back in November last year.  I was over the sickness within 2 days. If I caught covid at some point in the next few months, I would be certain that my body would be able to handle the virus over a few days. I would have to isolate for at least 2 weeks. But, I would be okay to recover from a virus quite quickly. If you are not elderly or on illicit drugs, people should be able to recover fast.

In several ways in terms of diabetes mellitus. The vascular changes mean less blood flow to deliver WBCs etc to sites of injury/infection. WBC numbers are reduced, and WBC antigen recognition sites are lower in number.

Every cold and influenza I have had since I was a child has meant that I cut out sugar from my diet. When I was diagnosed diabetic at age 35, I took drastic measures to cut out the booze and reduce the junk food to near rare occasions. I lost 32kg over a period of 8 months.

I do not know anyone who has had coronavirus. So, at best, I can only use youtube videos to have some idea of how a diabetic would be able to handle the coronavirus. High blood sugar supposedly increases the likelihood of someone contracting the coronavirus.

Most of your age group who get it seriously do survive. Though this is one of the groups where likely permanent damage is often the result. Everything from brain issues to heart lung and on down the list.

Yes. we have people who are permanently affected now, its unknown whether they will recover fully. These are people like diabetics and the obese. Lung function appears to be significantly compromised and many of these people are in their 40s and fifties.

The relatable senses of taste and smell are the main areas in the sensory system that take months of recovery to get back to normal. The lungs recover last, according to patients that have had the virus.

Unless you are very old, you should be able to recover from the virus. No damage is permanent.

The only reality that needs attention on this topic is your constant need to think that because you cannot handle a virus, it must mean that other people cannot handle a virus.

I quite agree.
A friend of mine who is 67 years old lives overseas.
He got it and took herbal supplements to boost his immune system.
He got over it, took him about 8 weeks. He said it was MUCH worse than a usual flu.
When he ran out of his supplements  he worsened rapidly.

He dislikes doctors so did not see one of get tested

My father is 67 this year. And I would say that he has reached that age where getting over a cold takes a lot longer than what I had to endure as a child. He has diabetes, too. If he caught the virus, it could be a real serious illness for him.

For the likes of me, being 42 in a few weeks time, I am at the age where I should be more concerned about my diet, weight, and exercise routine than what a virus could do to me. A couple weeks in isolation (being that I live alone), I would only need to have a relative bring the groceries around one week. Work would be able to get on without me for 4 days.
