PragerU: Why Are Utilities So Expensive?

......

Though the price of natural gas has fallen by 43% and coal prices have dropped 11% since 2010, the price of electricity for residential users in the United States rose by 13% during the same period, McConnell notes.

“Why does your electricity bill keep going up when the cost of producing electricity keeps going down?” he asks.

This is because, McConnell says, a portion of the substantial money that should have been saved instead “went to subsidize renewable energy,” with wind and solar being far more expensive than advertised.

We are being lied to by our politicians.

And the consequences of those lies, are costing us...BIG !   ....and are impoverishing us, and our children, and their children.

To many [career] politicians, taxpayers are simply viewed a pliant and powerless and gulible, 'MILK-COWS'.

But you already knew that.      .....didn't you !         Tongue

The coal subsidies are far less on a power production value than renewables.

And the IMF uses "subsidies" as a term for depreciation etc.

According to Energy.gov.au coal generated 500TWh of energy in 2019(latest figures)

According to Reneweconomy the subsidy for coal was $1.8 billion although that includes tax subsidies which renewables get.

Renewables provided about 111TWh of energy. And according to AFR $2.8 billion in subsidies direct dollar value. So Tax subsidies would be on top.

So we have somewhat less power and a higher subsidy for renewables.

I wonder why the author never answered the question in the headline? The information is freely available. In Australia $1 spent on retail power goes (approx) 30% paid to producers(wholesale power cost) 40% in distribution costs, 25% in margin for resellers and 5% for renewables subsidies. You never hear the skeptics break it down like though, because its hard to sell the narrative when 95% of costs have nothing to do with renewables.

You mean governments don't have to pay for unused energy that must be supplied to cover for when renewables don't generate or generate enough?

How many billion a year is that 5% subsidy? Wink

But you won't hear Pho Huc talk about that.
