AOC - How do we "deradicalize" Trump supporters
Jan 17th, 2021 at 12:25pm

AOC asks - How do we "deradicalize" Trump supporters [aka, white supremacists] ?

In 2021,    THOUGHTCRIME    is prevalent in Amerika !

Yadda paraphrases AOC;

"We need a plan going forward, on how can we best neutralise this danger to Amerika, and to every one of us !"

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), is effectively calling for an Orwellian “Ministry of Truth.”

AOC Demands Federal Funding To ‘Deradicalize’ White Supremacists, Conspiracy Theorists

By  Jon Brown
Jan 17, 2021

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Friday called for the federal government to better fund efforts to “deradicalize” white supremacists, conspiracy theory adherents, and others who have supposedly been misled by President Donald Trump.

Responding to a question during a virtual town hall, Ocasio-Cortez conceded that figuring out how best to communicate with some of Trump’s supporters is “very difficult.”

......“There are a couple things I will say about this. One is I think our community recognizes … that this is not a problem that is going to go away Jan. 20. You know, this doesn’t go away with an inauguration, it doesn’t go away after an inauguration. And there are people who are radicalized right now, and it is going to take a very long time … and a lot of effort to deradicalize those people.”

......

Neglecting to distinguish between white supremacists and those who questioned the integrity of the 2020 presidential election, Ocasio-Cortez stressed the importance of counteracting what she described as the “unaccountable misinformation bubble” that she claims deceives them.

“There is no deradicalizing in one conversation,” she said. “It did not take one conversation to convince people of the conspiracy theory that the election was stolen. It took echoes, it took people hammering this, it took the president saying over and over and over again, it took his echo chamber saying it over and over and over again, it took this completely unaccountable misinformation bubble around him, hammering it over and over and over again. And that is how people get radicalized. And it takes a lot of that repeated effort to get people back out.”

Ocasio-Cortez recently called for a congressional committee to combat disinformation in media, drawing criticism from some who claimed she was effectively calling for an Orwellian “Ministry of Truth.”

Those persons     who did NOT vote for Joe Biden and Kamal Harris are,    clearly, the biggest danger to 'the freedom to choose' in Amerika, and a safe Amerika.

/sarc off

Shouldn't we just criminalise those who did   NOT   vote for Joe Biden and Kamal Harris ???

Clearly, failing to do so, that is a quasi-criminal act.

/sarc off

Thrilling stuff !

We saw it, in Mugabe's ZIMBABWE, in Maduro's VENEZUELA,
and in many other centrally commanded socialist paradises.

AOC is a socialist.

so she would apply a socialist solution

The Killing Fields (Khmer: វាលពិឃាត, Khmer pronunciation: [ʋiəl pikʰiət]) are a number of sites in Cambodia where collectively more than a million people were killed and buried by the Khmer Rouge regime (the Communist Party of Kampuchea)

The Khmer Rouge regime arrested and eventually executed almost everyone suspected of connections with the former government

the left have plans for the 75 million members of the trump cult.

they want to take away their guns, throw their commander in chief in the slammer (after cutting his communications)  and then treat them like the uyghirs in china.

that may not go down well

rednecks from arkansas may not be as malleable as the uyghirs

Even though it's a misinterpretation of what she said, attributed as a quote as always, the question is more important that the trolls realise.

Biden wants unity.

To have unity we need to bring those in the Maga fantasy back to reality.

How can one do that?

I've tried on here and it's impossible.

The worst example of the red pilled Maga people here include Rich, Mech etc. You've seen how they meltdown when confronted with a truth they cannot handle.

That's the Maga way.

How do you deradicalise that!?

The Maga people went from cheering on Pence thinking he could single handedly overturn the election result and when he tweeted that he couldn't and wouldn't be doing it on Wednesday, they instantly shifted to him being a peadophile who had abuse more than 50+ children and since they couldn't rely on him stopping the certification they stormed the Capitol like T**** said to show the weak Republicans how to fight.

How to you walk people back from this sort of insanity.

Unity with these people is going to be impossible.

So instead, we should strive for unity with justice, so the same mistakes of the civil war aren't relived.

Unless Yadda, you think there is a way to bring these brainwashed Maga people back to reality?

To do nothing is supporting the white supremist and sedition to continue.

A movement based on conspiracy theories, lies and the letter Q.

You guys really think that nothing should be done ?

AOC is the Brightest politician in the USA at the moment.

Her block is the USA's best opportunity (only opportunity) to get corruption out of politics in the USA.

A government controlled     federal commission    should supervise and be in charge of all publicly released news reports.

- Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.  [paraphrasing]

AOC Clearest Portrait Yet of Our Broken Congress

By Michael Dorstewitz
Friday, 15 January 2021

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who self identifies as a democratic-socialist, suggested this week that....

a federal commission

.....should do to news media what Facebook and Twitter do to their users — control the information that gets disseminated.

In fact, she claimed that such a commission was already in the works.

......

"There is absolutely a commission being discussed," Ocasio-Cortez claimed.

"But it seems to be more investigatory in style rather than truth and reconciliation. So I think that’s an interesting concept for us to explore, and I do think that several members of Congress, in some of my discussions, have brought up media literacy because that is a part of what happened here and we’re going to have to figure out how we rein in our media environment so that you can’t just spew disinformation and misinformation."

In a New York Post commentary, David Harsanyi called the proposal "creepy" and "wholly un-American" — and it is.

And if it sounds vaguely familiar, think of the "Ministry of Truth" in George Orwell’s dystopian novel "1984."

We have an independent press to keep a check on government — not the other way around.

It’s little more than an attempt to rein in dissent — not by debating the issues and offering alternative viewpoints — but by controlling the conversation, and in so doing, showing contempt for the American people.

Assuming you still believe Congress should establish a central clearinghouse to separate fact from fiction, consider a statement Ocasio-Cortez made a few years back.

She claimed that two-thirds of a "Medicare for All" program could be financed by the "$21 trillion of Pentagon financial transactions [that] ‘could not be traced, documented, or explained.'"

The Washington Post gave that statement four Pinocchios, its highest rating for disinformation, stating that the $21 trillion figure she referred to was over the previous 17 years, and more importantly, represented errors in both funds coming in and money going out.

When she was called on it during a "60 Minutes" interview on CBS, her response was jaw-dropping.

"If people want to really blow up one figure here or one word there, I would argue that they’re missing the forest for the trees," she said. "There's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right."

Although receiving four Pinocchios, she claimed moral superiority, so that made it OK.

Even assuming Ocasio-Cortez won’t be involved in the actual fact-checking of news stories, consider the House Democrats’ article of impeachment against President Trump.

They claimed he incited insurrection when he told his supporters, "if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore."

Most if not all members of Congress have said something similar throughout their political careers — probably more than once.

During the same speech Trump predicted that "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

He said of the unconvinced Republicans, "If they don't fight, we have to primary the hell out of the ones that don't fight. You primary them. We're going to let you know who they are."

But if it’s an actual commission independent of Congress, comprised of “professional” fact-checkers, how would that work out?

Newsweek fact-checked the question, "Did Trump Say to 'Peacefully and Patriotically' March to the Capitol?"

It concluded that "The president did say that the crowd was going to march peacefully and patriotically to the Capitol. After the attack, Trump said he does not condone violence."

It added, "However, it does not necessarily mean the president did not incite violence with the rest of his speech or in his rhetoric prior to January 6."

Taking a cue from Ocasio-Cortez, you could say that Newsweek was being "factually wrong but morally correct."

This is why Congress is broken.
