I've read some legal analysis of Trump's comments immediately before the attack and while the terrorists did immediately leave for the Capitol after Trump's speech telling them to do so, the specific words he used were right up against the line of incitement to violence, but he didn't cross it, again, in a purely legal sense.
It's obvious that he put his supporters there and told them to fight, which they did.
But what I'm learning now that was much worse was that when the DC Police asked for help from Trump via the National Guard, he refused.
Not only that when a neighbouring state offered to send help the Pentagon got in the way and wouldn't allow it.
So Trump's actions made the entire attack much worse, this is no longer up for debate, and it's clear he put his supporters there and told them to fight but given that he didn't specifically tell them to be violence and attempt to murder people there in a legal sense he is likely protected, but it's obvious that he incited the entire thing.
And don't go talking about "well there is no legal argument and therefore he didn't incite anything" unless you're going to stop saying the election was stolen because there is no legal argument for that either, in fact 60+ instances of that.
Exactly.
And even though all of that is undeniably true, we still have forum members here who continue to defend the terrorists.
I find that quite disturbing.
Will they be cheering on the terrorists on January 17?
Of course they will. We'll get the same "whataboutism", or lies about it being Antifa, a false flag etc.
It's not going to stop.
My biggest fear is that this is the new normal.
Say <InsertRepublicHere> beat the dems in 2024, or the dems lose seats in the House or the Senate in the midterms. Can the left, or "antifa" just storm the halls of power and try to stop the certification of votes or the swearing in of new members?
All he'd have to say, as people left of centre is,
"Well what about when you defending Trump's terrorist attack" and the cycle continues.
You can bet that won't be accepted at the time as a valid argument.
So why is it that those on the left are always expected to take the high road but nothing at all is expected of the right other than lying and cheating?
Why should we reach out, why should unity only be expected or criticism lobbed when it's not reached only when the left are in power?
After these last 4 years, we should all just Troll the Trump supporters, call them names, lie about what Biden is doing and lie about whoever takes over post Trump, calling them paedophiles or inventing conspiracy theories to excuse Biden and Harris.
Imagine if we actually did that how quickly the left would stop demanding anything from Biden and the US would fall even further.
But no, we're expected to all be on board with holding Biden to account and working together with those across the aisle to repair Trump's damage, while blaming that damage on the left.
Is it time to sacrifice the US to reset what is demanded of the left vs the nothing that is demanded of the right?
Why should we be better when you tards on the right go out of you way to lie, cheat and steal?
All while accusing us of the same...
