Front page of today's West Australian has Mark McGowan telling us masks will probably be here to stay after February 5th.

Why? If you're going to make the same stupid mistakes South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania have made then what's the point?

I thought we were supposed to have a Safe Transition Plan for February 5th?

Doesn't seem too safe to me when the first thing I see is:

Quote:
...and WA’s way of life can continue safely with the introduction public health and social measures once COVID-19 enters WA’s community.

Our way of life doesn't include having to wear masks or have any other restrictions except for the past week since that idiot backpacker decided to do a Covid tour of Perth lasting over a week (the last 2 or 3 days were even after he began to feel sick).

And, Marky Mark goes on to say that masks have been highly effective in stopping the spread of Covid in the eastern States. Really? I think its about time you took off those rose coloured glasses and had a good look at what's happening over there.

Well, I still admire Mark to a certain degree for resisting the pressure from Scotty from Marketing and businesses to open up for as long as he has.

I'll be sitting back from the safety of my home after February 5th (as I'm sure many will be doing instead of being out and about spending money) when a lot of these same businesses that pushed for reopening then start complaining they've lost customers and they'll have to close or severely restrict their opening hours. Just like what's been happening in the other States.

I'll have my popcorn standing by ready to enjoy the show.

Oh... and a special congratulations are in order to Queensland today for joining the quadruple digit club.

Hope you're paying attention, Marky Mark.

Stupid mistakes because of the whinging business sector & people like Scoot et al.

Now the idiots are whining because they are being shut down one by one as staff and patrons test positive.

Serves the bastards right.

The same thing will happen in WA.

And yes it is quite reasonable for you to ask why were all the restrictions enforced in the first place ... all that has been a wasted exercise now.

But for a time we QLDers were a lot more free & relaxed than the 2 states that think they're the only ones of importance.

We already have a lot of anger brewing here over New Years Eve cancellations despite no new Covid cases being reported yesterday.

But, the Perth Cup isn't being cancelled, of course.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-12-28/wa-events-industry-laments-covid-19-rules...

Quote:
After almost two years of last-minute cancellations, strict COVID-19 rules and a lack of overseas talent, Western Australia's events industry had been hoping this New Year's Eve would be the start of its recovery.

But those hopes were dashed by the state government's announcement that coronavirus restrictions would continue until at least January 4, in part due to low testing rates.

While Ascot Racecourse will be allowed to welcome crowds for the Perth Cup on January 1, New Year's Eve events that were expected to host thousands of revellers — including music festivals — have been canned.

But, I'm sure Mark McGowan will keep us all safe here in WA until exactly 12:01am on February 5th when Covid will be allowed to cause the same chaos here as it is causing in the other States.

No doubt all the little Covid viruses have set their microscopic alarm clocks for the 'big day' in February already and are raring to go 'on the dot' at 12:01am.

Of course not.

Mark's not gonna take on organised crime syndicates.

You let us in. What did you expect us to do? Mask up and self-isolate?

Come come. We NSWers ran around Queensland coughing on everybody and infecting you. Remember, you people asked for it.

Ask Aquascoot.

It's official;
Of the 11 random people at my local IGA all taking part in the pop-up check-out survey, 7 were in favour of keeping WA borders permanently shut and just 4 were against Lol.

the first part of your sentence is certainly true

most people spend their time durping around.
they bounce out of bed and their entire aim is to be stimulated as much as possible and remain as safe as possible whilst doing so.

porn, sweet and fatty foods , gaming, netflix and alcohol are the easiest way to be safely stimulated and so thats their life.

the life of pure garbage.

maybe you think becoming a fat , porn addicted, cry baby who wallows in self pity and wants an authority figure to keep him "safe' is a meaningful existence

i dont.

but i acknowledge thats how most people live their lives.

they dont really live them

they just exist and seek out ways to distract themselves, stimulate themselves and remain safe

80% of them had strong authoritarian tendencies, which will of course emerge under the right conditions.

Read your Zuby. That's four times the national average, no?

Mark McGowan said recently that only something like an "emergency" would cause a delay in WA reopening on February 5th.

Well, I'd have to say the current "emergency" (unfolding disaster, actually) in the eastern States should qualify as a reason to keep WA's borders closed.

Here's hoping.

Dear media - please stop normalising neurotics who are going to spend the rest of their lives in a self-imposed lockdown, hiding from a virus against which they are vaccinated. Please instead consider referring them to mental health services. I am respectfully begging you.
