Sounds like its about time for Western Australia to finally secede from the rest of the country, eh, aqua?

Cool

Tell me Karl do you think there are any young people in western Australia who might like to travel
Who have higher aspirations for their life then sitting on the sofa in their bubble of safety

It's not all about you and Greg

Young people can travel as much as they like, I couldn't care less. As long as they don't bring Covid back with them or start complaining when they have to quarantine if borders suddenly slam shut while they're travelling (I'm predicting all of this quarantine free travel that's starting up right now won't last past Christmas when I'm still predicting most of Australia will be back in lockdown).

Assuming the Federal and State governments don't start lying about the number of Covid cases, hospitalisations and deaths, of course. They wouldn't do that now, would they?

As far as selfishness goes... yep, we've seen a lot of that since the start of the pandemic with people walking out of hotel and home quarantine, lying on border passes to get where "they" want to go and stuff everyone else, fleeing the major cities to regional areas in the time available before lockdowns commenced, refusing to social distance, sanitise hands and check into venues with phone apps or pen and paper, etc., etc.

Now THAT'S the definition of selfishness. Especially when people may die as a result of their selfishness.

Can't see where any of that has any effect on people going about their daily lives here?

For example, later this morning I'm planning on walking (weather permitting) to 3 or 4 different business premises (including Belmont Forum shopping centre) within about a kilometer radius of where I live and the only "restriction" I have is that I have to sign in with our SafeWA app (or pen and paper) at each of them.

And, as I've said before, I see many many people not even bothering to do that in my daily travels.

I'm planning on going to a local restaurant with family and friends in a couple of weeks time... once again, all we have to do is sign in with the app or pen and paper.

No masks, no Covid... just the way over 80& of us like it and we want it to remain that way.

Yes, I agree. So I'll just repeat this in case anyone missed it.

But, if in fact you're not referring to the selfish 'groups' I've mentioned in my earlier post then that should really be

us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us

Over 80% of us according to a recent survey. You know - the 80%+ that would like WA to stay Covid free for as long as possible and not have all the hospitalisations and deaths like they're having over east.

Another 10 Covid deaths in Victoria yesterday (which is 1 more in a single day than WA has had for the ENTIRE PANDEMIC so far) and 4 in NSW in case you haven't been keeping up.

Don't worry Carl you will live forever
A living treasure
Our most precious generation

You should ask your Premier to pass legislation outlawing death in the state of western Australia
Anyone found dying should be fined $2,000
It is unacceptable behaviour

More selfishness (and stupidity):

'I want that nurse': How suspicion was raised at Perth clinic over alleged fake coronavirus vaccine injection

Quote:
The Perth nurse allegedly caught giving a teenager a fake coronavirus injection may have put an unknown number of lives at risk, the Australian Medical Association (AMA) has warned.
"It almost is unbelievable," AMA President Dr Omar Khorshid said, describing the arrest of 51-year-old Christina Hartmann Benz after a "vigilant" doctor at a private Perth medical clinic allegedly watched her put a needle into a teen's arm but not inject the liquid.
"Not only is it potentially illegal, almost certainly unprofessional, but it's also putting the lives of those individuals who've availed themselves of her service actually at risk."

Quote:
Eyebrows were raised, Dr Khorshid told Today, when an unusual number of people allegedly began booking their vaccine jabs specifically with Ms Hartmann Benz at the Victoria Park Respiratory Clinic.
"There were suspicions within the practice that something wasn't quite right," he said.
"You wouldn't expect large numbers to be coming and saying 'I want that nurse.'
"That's very unusual."

Quote:
During Ms Hartmann Benz's vaccine appointments, the door had allegedly always been closed while giving injections.
Dr Khorshid said a "very vigilant" doctor had done "the right thing" and observed Ms Hartmann Benz allegedly stick the needle into a 15-year-old's arm but not inject the vaccine.
The syringe was then allegedly disposed of, still containing a full dose.

Can't see it mentioned but I hope all of those people who booked the appointments to *not* get vaccinated get charged as well seeing as its fairly obvious they all 'conspired' to do this. Probably antivaxxers who wanted to make it look like they were vaccinated so they wouldn't be locked out of pubs and clubs, etc. when restrictions are eventually introduced here for the unvaccinated.

Wouldn't be surprised if most or all of them were also using fake SafeWA apps or wrote false names and numbers with the pen and paper option (that's if if they even bothered to make it look like they were checking in at shops and other premises which I doubt).

That clinic is next to Aldi, in East Victoria Park (opposite Bunnings).

I was gonna get my jabs there, but decided to go elsewhere.

Glad I did now.

These anti-vaxxers are crazy.

Actually, I don't believe the antivaxxers are the only ones not wanting to get vaccinated.

I'm betting a lot of people with no plans to travel and with no family interstate or overseas won't be getting vaccinated because they believe the WA 'hard border' won't come down if the State doesn't reach 90% fully vaccinated which is what Mark McGowan has stipulated.

Can't blame them really... we've enjoyed an almost Covid free lifestyle since the start of the pandemic and they no doubt want it to stay that way. Most of us do, especially elderly people or people with elderly parents and relatives who are most at risk from Covid... vaccinated or not.

And who wants to start wearing masks in summer? Especially with some of the scorchers we have here in Perth.

It depends on how much pressure is put on Mark McGowan by Scotty from Marketing and big business and if he 'caves in' like the other States have done. ScoMo is already upset about Mark McGowan not wanting to open WA up until we reach 90& vaccination and wants 80% like the rest of the country has done/is doing.

The problem with that strategy is that the state will become hyper-focussed on the remaining few percent, as the hard border cannot and will not remain in force due to the recalcitrance of an ultimately tiny minority (given the reason for the remaining few percent of holdouts likely owes more to procrastination than ideology).

And, because of the almost complete success in managing to keep covid out, or at very low numbers, I'm sure state government senior politicians will not entertain a last-minute U-turn.

There will likely be increasingly harsh restrictions of movement/access to public facilities for the unvaccinated, until most of the remaining relent out of exhaustion.

Federal Minister Greg Hunt drops hint that WA border may open earlier than planned

Quote:
Western Australia’s borders could open to the rest of the country in the first few weeks of 2022, significantly earlier than planned.

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt flagged the change during a television appearance on Sunday morning.

“We’d like to see Western Australia open as soon as possible,” he told ABC’s Insiders host David Speers.

“We are hearing that they are considering bringing that forward to at least, well, coincidentally, to time with the cricket.”

Yes, indeed... what a coincidence. Roll Eyes

So, the question that now needs to be asked is: how many Perth and WA hospitalisations and deaths are acceptable for a game of cricket?

Especially since the players will be coming straight here from Sydney and only needing to have a 5 day quarantine before playing the fifth test here in Perth.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of people are not happy about this and I don't blame them.

$$$ ahead of peoples' lives again. Damn hypocrites.
