Well, that's just f___ing great, isn't it?

I have to take my 90 year old aunt to the doctors tomorrow because she's been almost unable to walk for the past 2 days (her left hip is giving her increasing trouble).

Then, I'm supposed to take her to the eye specialist at Murdoch on Tuesday for her 6 month eye checkup.

And, on top of all that, I have to spend all day and overnight at Royal Perth Hospital on the 25th February (which just happens to be my aunt's 91st birthday and I won't be with her on the day) to have half of my thyroid and the lump attached to it removed.

Fantastic. These f___ing "returned travellers" strike again.

They stopped the "floating petri dishes" (cruise ships) last year but they didn't stop the flying ones - which are worse regarding the spread of COVID-19, of course.

I have to have my mother at RPH tomorrow at 9am.

Hopefully all hospital appointments are still going ahead.

Then, I have a medical appointment myself on Tuesday.

It's funny - I actually needed to get more toilet paper, as I'm down to my last few rolls.

I don't think there'll be any left on the shelves tomorrow.

why would you hope that?

the premier is locking down to keep everyone safe but YOU think the hospital system should see YOU despite the fact YOU may bring covid in and affect vulnerable people.

please realise that if the appointment is non urgent, you need to be a good citizen and do your part.

we are all in this together and cancelling non urgent hospital appoitments keeps our most vulnerable people safe

Well, let's hope they can keep a lid on this before it gets loose. Not just in WA but Australia wide.

I guess we're lucky (again) that the recent hotel quarantine breaches happened before this new variant arrived in Perth and they've (hopefully) tightened up the security in these hotels.

And, I see this muppet is still at it:

Coronavirus quarantine breacher Jenny D'Ubios arrested again for alleged wrong bail address

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-01-05/wa-quarantine-breacher-jenny-dubios-arres...

Quote:
A woman who walked free from prison yesterday after fleeing hotel quarantine in Perth halfway through her mandatory quarantine period is back behind bars, the WA Police Minister has revealed.

Quote:
The Magistrates Court heard the resident of an address provided by Ms D'Ubios, in Perth's southern suburbs, had not agreed Ms D'Ubios could stay there.

The police prosecutor said the resident had "never given permission" for her to stay and had not spoken to Ms D'Ubios for "eight months".

The court heard Ms D'Ubios went to see police in Perth and provided a second address but this was also unsuitable.

The prosecutor said a person contacted at the second address did not know Ms D'Ubios.

He told the court she had "continually been evasive" in dealing with authorities, "doesn't give the correct address" and did not consult with the residents.

What the h3ll is wrong with these people? She (and others like her) should be put onto the first available flight out of Australia with "Do not return" stamped on her passport.

I agree.  Get rid of 'em!

In all seriousness, that woman has some very serious mental issues though so, as a duty of care, the WA Health Department should offer her some help.

Otherwise, she's just gonna be doing stupid irresponsible things wherever she goes.

A little time in a mental health facility wouldn't hurt.

What mental health facility have you got?

Funding has been stripped out of mental health all over the country and many mental health specific facilities have been closed.

That why we have so many nutters living in the general community.

Small psych wards have been set up in some hospitals but resources are limited.

She just needs to be shown that the hotel room was luxury by sticking her in a womens prison cell for a month or two.

"Alternative health practitioner" ....whats that?

A self appointed quack?

Must have been bad as she had to ply her trade in Spain.

Absolutely!

I thought Boris had already done that?

Isn't the UK in lockdown?

Maybe.

But, as I've said once or twice in the past - I'm prepared to bet that a large number of them are expatriates who have been happily living overseas for years but now that things are getting a bit "virusy" over there they all want to come back to Australia where they believe its safe.

Which it (relatively speaking) is - for the time being.

Yep .... the same as all the dual citizen Lebs that live in Lebanon most of the time .....

and every time things hot up there they demand to be bought back to Aust by the govt because they're Aussie citizens.

People can leave the UK by air as long as they test negative to COVID.

Her appointment was crucial.

She wasn't visiting the place for a bit of recreation - she was accessing vital medical help that will hopefully save her life.

Lockdowns are a necessary evil to stop the spread, but there must be some common sense involved. The immediate risk of life threatening illness vs. the possible later threat of covid. Easily assessed and the risk can be managed.

that would be a decision for the hospital not you.
if they think the visit can be delayed, they will delay it.

you are in a city that has covid.

you could have it and take it into the hospital and infect ill patients,
its not all about you.

the chief health officer must keep the community safe and will make the appropriate decisions
and you must abide by the experts decision

The surgeons said it couldn't be delayed.

They've now just called me and said they're rushing her in to emergency surgery.

If I didn't take her to that appointment yesterday, things would have been very different today.

Now you understand what that pregnant woman in northern NSW must have been feeling when she was refused access to a QLD hospital.  I hope it turns out better for your mum than it did for her.

I hope your mother is OK, Greg.

My aunt still has pain in her left hip and has difficulty walking without the stick I bought for her on Sunday.

Because I couldn't take her to the doctor yesterday the doctor called us on the phone and sent a script through to our local chemist for some Prodeine Forte tablets which I picked up a bit later and she needs to take one or two each night before bed. That's on top of the 2 Panadol Osteo tablets in the morning and afternoon.

This lockdown has probably come at a good time for her since she can't leave the house so hopefully it will give her time to recover.

Thanks Carl.

There's no guarantee the operation will be a success and, I'm worried about the anaesthetic.

It's gonna be hard dropping her off at the hospital tomorrow morning (she has to go in for surgery at 6.30am).

Then, I have to go back and look after Dad who appears to be in his last days.

He's blind, deaf, and can't walk, and now doesn't seem to know who he is or where he is.

I'll make him some breakfast, give him his meds, and just pray mum makes it through the surgery.

Tomorrow ain't gonna be my best day.

And of course, I hope your aunt is okay.

Getting old sucks balls.

Meanwhile....

'Bunch of cowboys': Insider claims hotel quarantine security guards in Western Australia are mostly foreign students who are paid 'off the books' in cash - and share IDs so they can Uber on the side

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9210309/Claims-hotel-quarantine-securit...

Quote:
An insider has blasted Western Australia's hotel quarantine system and accused security companies of hiring and exploiting foreign students.

The source claimed guards were paid minimum wage in cash and off the books so they could work double the 20 hours allowed under their visa arrangements.

It was also alleged that hotel security guards were sharing IDs so they could get away with working a second job such as driving for Uber.

This also made front page news in today's West Australian (see attached image).

I'm sure I heard on the news about a month ago that we weren't going to be using these "el cheapo" security guards for hotel quarantine here in Perth anymore and the police and military were going to be used instead after that idiot woman walked out of the Pan Pacific hotel in the city and ended up in Rockingham nearly 50km away.

What happened? Roll Eyes

This is alarming.

McGowan needs to get serious on this poo.

Stop the smacking daily photo ops, and sort this poo out.
