The ideal thing to do is get everyone vaxxed really fast, then open up.
This article explains why.

Yep. why would you take the risk in WA right now because WA is actually carrying the country economically. Look what happened in Brazil, it closed the mining industry., if that happens in WA we are all stuffed, thats just the facts. 98 percent vax rates is the figure we should be aiming for though before opening up in my opinion and I think Mcgowan is onto it, he has obviously listened to the noble knowledgable  Rhino and his advice.

Flight Centre threatens to sue Mark McGowan if he refuses to open the borders when Western Australia hits 80 per cent vaccination

Quote:
Flight Centre claims it will sue the WA Government if domestic and international borders don't reopen when the state hits 70 to 80 per cent vaccination rates.

Chief executive Graham Turner said he thought he would have a 'good chance' of winning a legal challenge if borders weren't opened.

Two words - and they start with F and O.

I'm hoping it'll be a cold day in hell before the CEO of Flight Centre (or any other company) dictates to a State government about how they handle Covid and keep people safe.

How many Covid deaths and hospitalisations does Graham consider acceptable so Flight Centre can go back to making money? Perhaps he can team up with Jayne from Virgin and come up with a number? (Hint: anything other than zero is the wrong answer).

Someone should also have a word in Graham's ear and remind him that anyone with half a brain and Internet access can book their own interstate and overseas holidays and trips without paying a huge fee to Flight Centre (or any other agents).

Grin Grin Grin

So much 'common sense' (and fun) that there's even a game for it now... I hear a lot of the 'selfish, expendable oldies' are playing it and having a good laugh at your expense.

No-one that I know.

A lot of them have closed down here in Perth (and probably Australia wide) since the start of the pandemic. The one in Belmont Forum (near Aldi) is still open (or has reopened) but it doesn't seem particularly busy when I've been up there lately.

Belmont Forum Flight Centre still wasn't busy when I was up there just after 11am today. I counted one customer which is one more than I usually see.

And, perhaps Graham should consider updating the company's 'logo'? The Concorde hasn't flown since 2003.

Indeed.

But, as Scotty from Marketing keeps telling us (especially the unemployed)... there's plenty of jobs out there if you look for them.

Don't forget his words of wisdom: "If you have a go, you'll get a go".

I know a couple of people who worked for Flight Centre.

Terrible employer, apparently.

I dealt with them once, for a European trip, and they would answer my emails straight away whenever I asked a question.

That is, until I paid - after that they never replied again.

I've been told that once they receive payment, you are effectively put on an ignore list.

yes it has, down to around 110 a tonne. Only $55 a tonne more than they allowed for in the budget. Lol. You do it to yourself  every time.
