Josh Frydenberg warns WA Delta will seep across its borders ‘within a week or a month’ Quote:Josh Frydenberg has warned WA that Delta will inevitably seep across its borders soon — ‘whether it’s a week or whether it’s a month’ — and the State better be prepared.
Quote:Mark McGowan has accused the Federal Government of being “on a mission” to infect Western Australians with COVID.
Yep, sure sounds like that to me (and probably most West Australians as well). Probably just so Scotty from Marketing and his 'puppet' Gladys in NSW can say "I told you so...".
Quote:“If the borders remain shut and if all states don’t follow the plan, jobs will be lost, businesses will close, the wellbeing of Australians will suffer, our debt burden will increase and our recovery will be slowed,” Mr Frydenberg said.
Hello???? What's happening in NSW and Victoria at the moment with their out of control Covid cases and deaths? Oh, that's right... small businesses don't matter as long as the Liberals' big business mates can 'flourish'.
Can't wait for the Federal election so we can finally bounce these Liberal (money before lives) muppets out on their ears as they so richly deserve.
Imagine you’re Mark McGowan and you tell West Australians “I know we’re COVID-free and our economy is doing well, but I’ve agreed to a national plan developed in Canberra and I’m going to let infected people from the east fly and drive into WA and I know a lot of West Australians will get sick, and many will die as a result, but it’s for the good of the federation and because people in Sydney want to come for a holiday.”
It would be political suicide.
And we've got Michaelia Cash (Federal Senator from WA and Morrison attack dog) claim that the High Court will reverse itself and rule against WA if the boarders remain shut after the 70% or 80% target is reached.
In doing so she has left the door open for the Commonwealth to support another challenge to the boarder restrictions.
But she has exposed the weakness of the government's position. Scott Morrison has again lied to federal parliament by claiming the Commonwealth did not purse Clive Palmer's challenge when in fact Christian Porter intervened to support it.
Morrison knows that supporting an attempt to open WA boarders so WA citizens can get infected and die is so politically toxic he will brazenly lie to Parliament.
We are not so naïve as to think the boarder will keep covid out forever. it's inevitable that it will get in. But we want to open on our terms. By continuing to push the issue the Coalition risks losing the support of a traditionally Liberal voting State.
If Albanese is set to become the next PM, he will need to win seats in WA, seats Morrison will need to defend to continue his residence of the Lodge.
That’s good news and good luck – as if any more could possibly be bestowed on one politician – for McGowan, who again finds himself in a glorious sweet spot to command promises from the East as the election cycle rolls around again.
