WA Government on Twitter

Quote:
A previously confirmed COVID-19 case has tested positive, after being cleared. This is not uncommon.

Anyone who has attended a potential exposure site at the times listed must get tested for COVID-19 and monitor for symptoms over the next 14 days.

I forgot it was a public holiday. Thanks for the reminder. Should I buy masks today or we gonna give this one a miss?

Western Australia to move to phase five COVID-19 restrictions

https://www.9news.com.au/national/wa-covid-western-australia-to-move-to-phase-fi...

Quote:
Western Australia will move to phase five COVID-19 restrictions from Wednesday, essentially sending the state back to a pre-pandemic existence.
Under the changes, it will mean the two-square-metre rule and 75 per cent restrictions for the state's hospitality industry will be removed, with some venues allowed to return to 100 per cent capacity.
It's effectively a return to pre-COVID life for the hospitality sector.

Until the next hotel quarantine outbreak, of course.

Quote:
WA Premier Mark McGowan said the decision was based on the latest health advice.
"We're confident in doing this," Mr McGowan said today.
"We know we can put up a border when we need to ... we know Western Australians do the right thing."

In response to whether the shift to phase five would mean WA could be forced into lockdowns in the event of any future locally acquired cases, Mr McGowan said he hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Yep, right after everyone's stampeded off to the shops again to strip the shelves of toilet paper and other 'essentials', just like the rest of Australia does every time there's a lockdown. Roll Eyes

Nobody saw this coming   Roll Eyes

Perth and Peel back to masks and limited capacity restrictions from noon as WA records new community case

"The Perth and Peel regions will go back to phase one restrictions over fears a new COVID-19 community case is the quick to spread Delta variant.

"West Australians will need to wear a mask indoors and outdoors when they cannot physically distance as the two square metre rule comes back into place and venues are limited to a maximum of 150 patrons for the next three days."

And:

Live breaking news: NSW, WA, NT, QLD report new Covid cases, with health authorities instating new restrictions and lockdowns

"Australia's Covid battle has significantly worsened in the past 24 hours, as multiple states and territories respond to new cases and expanding contacts."

As predictable as ... well, something that's really predictable.

I guess there'll be a nationwide shortage of toilet paper tomorrow.

Freaking unbelievable, isn't it?

As I've said before - time for all the small businesses who are losing so much during these outbreaks, lockdowns and restrictions to get together and file a massive class action lawsuit against the Federal and State governments then see how long it takes for them to fix this hotel quarantine fiasco which has been the cause of every single Covid outbreak in Australia.

Or preferably - put a complete stop to all overseas arrivals until this worldwide Covid pandemic is under control.

scomo seems intent on stopping the transition away from hotels and into more isolated camps ... or at least he seems to want to stop the one proposed for Brisbane/Toowoomba region

Wonder if he will change his mind now that masks are required to be worn in the ACT as well?

Surely he will have to wear one like everyone else? And, preferably one that doesn't have the Australian flag printed on it seeing as a lot of people quite rightly consider that to be disrespectful.

That is when he manages to return to Australia, of course (is he back yet?).

I also wonder if the owners of any of these hotels being used for quarantine have ever thought to themselves: "Hmm, perhaps we should be thinking about protecting the health of everyone here in Australia and tell the Federal and State governments that they cannot use our hotels for quarantining all of these "returned travellers" any more?"

Governments would then be left with two choices:

1. Build proper quarantine facilities away from the major population centres (which we've heard lots of talk about for months but still no action so far). Or, use some of the existing facilities like Christmas Island (or Rottnest Island here in WA).

2. Stop all overseas arrivals until #1 is set up and operating or the pandemic is over or under control worldwide (this would probably happen before they get their heads out of their collective @sses and implement #1).

But, seeing as most or all of these hotels would be almost out of business due to lack of tourism, etc. if they were not getting paid for being used for quarantine then I can't see them refusing to be used for quarantine purposes anytime in the foreseeable future.

Yes.  This needs to happen.

I see the footy at Optus Stadium got cancelled today because of Covid (at the very last minute).

There'll be a lot of angry football fans around.

And risk the only real profit any of them are likely to make anytime soon?   Not on your life ... literally

just fly them to xmas island for two weeks before they can come to the mainland, once they come to the mainland they stay in isolated camps for another week before they are released into society

Glad I wasn't anywhere near Optus Stadium yesterday when all the people who turned up to watch the game had to go home again and the match was played in an empty stadium.

Just came back from the IGA in Kooyong Rd. and I was talking to a couple of people I know who sit on the seats outside the shops and socialize. One of them was there yesterday afternoon when buses were dropping off disappointed fans across the road from the shops and most of them were cursing and swearing.

Probably not quite as bad as the post I read on another forum where someone said his boss had come over from Sydney last week to watch the Eagles play. Hadn't seen them play for about 2 years and all he got for his trouble was to watch the Eagles get thrashed by the Western Bulldogs on the TV in his hotel room where he has to spend 14 days in quarantine at his own expense. Ouch!

Just as well I didn't have anything special planned for the rest of this week. Roll Eyes
