Well, that's just f___ing great, isn't it?

I have to take my 90 year old aunt to the doctors tomorrow because she's been almost unable to walk for the past 2 days (her left hip is giving her increasing trouble).

Then, I'm supposed to take her to the eye specialist at Murdoch on Tuesday for her 6 month eye checkup.

And, on top of all that, I have to spend all day and overnight at Royal Perth Hospital on the 25th February (which just happens to be my aunt's 91st birthday and I won't be with her on the day) to have half of my thyroid and the lump attached to it removed.

Fantastic. These f___ing "returned travellers" strike again.

They stopped the "floating petri dishes" (cruise ships) last year but they didn't stop the flying ones - which are worse regarding the spread of COVID-19, of course.

I have to have my mother at RPH tomorrow at 9am.

Hopefully all hospital appointments are still going ahead.

Then, I have a medical appointment myself on Tuesday.

It's funny - I actually needed to get more toilet paper, as I'm down to my last few rolls.

I don't think there'll be any left on the shelves tomorrow.

Geez, one hotel worker gets a positive to COVID and the whole of WA goes into lockdown!
Why don’t they just lock down the suburbs where it strikes?
So these hotel workers get the Covid because of returned OS travellers?
Maybe lockdown the towns these quarantine hotels are in?

Well 5 days lockdown is better than 5 months!

So here’s Queensland about to open borders to NSW and WA shut shop.

Nothing is certain except... this virus will never go away in this immediate future.

So is just Perth going into lockdown? Or the whole of WA? And border closed again?
I heard on news there may be that spread of mutant Covid in Melbourne that came from Perth  Undecided

Just had a call from my doctor (who works at the same medical practice as the doctor my aunt goes to), he says we can't go there tomorrow and my aunt's doctor will be calling at around about the time of her appointment tomorrow (10:45am) and she'll decide if my aunt needs to go in and see her and in the meantime she will give my aunt advice about her hip issue over the phone (she does seem a little better this afternoon, I actually bought her a cheap walking stick at KMart Belmont Forum this morning and its making it a lot easier for her to move around the house).

We'll probably get a call tomorrow cancelling her eye checkup at Murdoch on Tuesday, we're not too worried about that one at this stage, it can be rescheduled for later if necessary.

I recall reading about an article published in one of the Eastern States newspapers recently where the writer described these increasing number of "Aussies" wanting to return to Australia as "Biological Terrorists". Of course, that description never made it into the actual published article. Gee, I wonder why?

There's been a lot of talk about that recently. But, no action so far, of course.

When you have some of these "returned traveller Karens" complaining about having to spend 2 weeks in quarantine at 5 star inner city hotels you can probably imagine the outrage from a lot of them if they had to quarantine at places like remote mining camps, etc.

Carl's comment: "Don't like it? Don't bother coming to Australia".

Bloody hell you go on. You hear from a few people not enjoying their lodgings but the vast majority just do the time and catch up on their reading.

Yeah, right.

I'm still prepared to bet that the majority of them have been living overseas for years (for things like tax purposes) and now that things are getting a bit "virussy" where they're living they suddenly want to become "dinky di Aussies" again.

And, I bet they'll be off overseas again as soon as the pandemic is over. While still retaining their Australian citizenship, of course. Stuff 'em.

When it's safe.

Until then, stay the hell away.

They chose to leave the country - they weren't forced.

Its time the Federal and State governments started to get their sh*t together REAL QUICK and STOP GAMBLING WITH PEOPLES' LIVES in this country.

They need to:

1. Make sure people are tested for COVID-19 BEFORE they get on a plane to Australia (we keep hearing about that but when will they start doing it?)

2. Quarantine these "returned travellers" OUTSIDE of the major cities (we keep hearing about that one too but so far... yep, you guessed it... all talk and no action).

3. If they can't implement 1 and 2 then CLOSE THE DAMN BORDERS PROPERLY until the pandemic is under control overseas.

I've read somewhere recently that there are an increasing number of people in this country who are getting mighty p***ed off with all of these "returned travellers" bringing COVID-19 into Australia. I can't say I'm surprised. I bet there's been a big increase in that number just from WA alone after today.
