Coronavirus crisis: Perth and Peel lockdown to end at midnight tonight as planned

https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/coronavirus/coronavirus-crisis-perth-and-peel-l...

Quote:
WA has recorded no new cases of coronavirus overnight, meaning the snap lockdown will end at midnight tonight as scheduled.

WA Premier Mark McGowan said he wanted to thank everyone for their patience and understanding over the past three days.

“I wish we didn’t have to go into lockdown, but it was necessary and it has worked,” he said.

Some restrictions will still be in place despite the lockdown ending.

“Interim restrictions will come into force from midnight tonight allowing us to take a stepped-down approach after the three-day lockdown,” Mr McGowan said.

Quote:
The interim restrictions will be in place from 12.01am Tuesday morning until 12.01am Saturday morning.

From tomorrow, people in Perth and Peel will be free to leave their homes. Masks will remain mandatory indoors, outdoors and on public transport.

That's a relief... until the next hotel quarantine stuff up, at least.

I'll be working from home all this week, so all good.

And masks don't worry me at all.

Yep, masks are OK with me as well. Even my 91 year old aunt didn't mind wearing them during the last lockdown a few months back. She'll be happy to get out of the house tomorrow, she hasn't been out since last Wednesday.

What on earth are you going on about now?

If our "destiny" is to be overrun with Covid like so many other countries (especially India at the moment) it will only be because of the endless stream of "returned travellers" bringing the virus back to Australia with them and the "not fit for purpose" city hotel quarantine system that has failed so dismally up until now.

And, I strongly suspect "Fortress WA" is going to keep hotel quarantine (or preferably something better) going for as long as it takes to try and keep everyone safe, hopefully until everyone's vaccinated or the virus "burns itself out" with any luck.

Time for me to go (tea time). Someone else can play with you now or you can just carry on and play with yourself. Smiley

I don't think even he knows.

He's just an ignorant contrarian who tries to stir up trouble.

Ignore the useless prick.

He's just not worth it.

Yeah, Carl, go with gweggowry turd,  he's from Perth too. He'll tell you all about his special subjects of  rape and sodomy and irrational fear of white supremacist terrorism.  You can also meet his dad, Bbwian, he's also in Perth. And his cousin, philperth. It's all happenin' in Perf. Go wiv it. Intellectual capital. Take your plunger.

no they arent.

peccas position is that

"i enjoy having a chardonay in the back yard and reading a book.  i dont like the footy.
i WONT be getting the vaccine."

therefore, the premier should stop all overseas visitors. if young people want to travel or play sport or study overseas, thats tough titties. i must be protected (despite the fact i wont man up and be vaccinated) and if every other citizen of WA follows my lead, thats just dandy.
we can all stay at home and the federal government can mail us cheques forever and young people can stay in perth also forver because they should learn to appreciate the  life that i have and join me sipping chardonay alone at home and posting my ideology on the internet.

if you have kids or grandkids with plans to move out of WA with a "spirit of adventure", then you should be appalled by the selfish attitude of people like pecca.

the least they could do is do their bit and get vaccinated and stop hiding under the skirts of the girly man premier

hopeless, mediocre and totally self centred

Careful, scoot, that you're not projecting fear of your own lack of intellectual prowess and your predisposition towards expressing schadenfreude.

'When a shepherd goes to kill a wolf, and takes his dog to see the sport, he should take care to avoid mistakes. The dog has certain relationships to the wolf the shepherd may have forgotten'.

You devoted a lot of posts here to trivialising the virus's effect... Now you're making the claim that we should all get vaccinated as a civic duty (or, in your speak: 'man up and be vaccinated'... I guess you don't mean women aren't bound by your new-found sense of civic duty!)' implying that you were hopelessly wrong about its trivialisation.

Your 'dog' (if you will) is your inability to recognise your own hypocrisy.

Incorrect North incorrect

Whilst I still consider the virus a non species ending event
And something which should never have been catastrophized

The major devastation of the virus
Is due to the extreme overreaction of those in authority
Who have created ridiculous concepts such as fortress western Australia

We are now in the situation where if we are going to rescue young people
And allow them to have a decent future
We are all going to have to man up and get vaccinated

Not to save us from the devastating effect of a mild respiratory virus

But to save us from the devastating effect of having to continue with this nonsense of devoting every thought breath word and action to covid.

We should have just said this is going to be a bad flu season

We didn't and instead we have convinced people that the end of the world is upon us
Having gone down that ridiculous rabbit hole
The only way out is for everyone to now become vaccinated

So we have to do this for future generations

Unless you think future generations should never travel because they might infect Gregory and Carl upon their return

How ugly

Try telling that to places like the US, the UK, Italy and now India. They've had a really bad flu season. Two in a row, actually.

The main issue with this virus is its apparent ability to rapidly mutate into more infectious and more deadly variants.

I assume your reference to 'those in authority' include virologists, medics and clinicians in general - i.e. professionals who have spent their respective entire careers studying pathogens and/or working within the health industry.

Are you actually qualified to contradict their opinion?

Without denigration, why do you think the nation should take the advice of a barely educated farmer over the advice of these professionals?

Should, say, Indians stop worrying and get back to worshipping in their millions in confined places?

aquascoot has spent the last 12 months telling everyone that C19 is a hoax, and that the numbers have been made up by the media and politicians, but now he wants to push old people out of the queue so that he can be the first to get vaccinated.

What a smacking idiot.

Well, it looks like we've dodged another Covid bullet here in Perth but I'm sure it won't be long before our luck runs out, especially with winter almost here.

Its been unusually warm in Perth for April which also may have helped to avoid a Covid outbreak but the weather changes at the end of this week with some rain and much cooler temperatures forecast.

Australia is expected to ban ALL flights from India this week. Well, that's a start, at least. Should have been done months ago along with bans from other "high risk" countries until the hotel quarantine fiasco (Australia wide) is sorted out.

Meanwhile, Scotty from Marketing has a message for all of us:

PM warns social media can be 'used by the evil one', in speech to Christian conference

https://www.9news.com.au/national/scott-morrison-pentecostal-christian-speech-so...

Quote:
Identity politics is an "evil thing" threatening to steal the hope and courage of Australia's young people and social media can be "used by the evil one", the Prime Minister has warned in a speech revealing more about his pentecostal faith.
Scott Morrison, in a recent speech at a Christian conference, called on his fellow attendees to "raise up the spiritual weapons" against the growing tendency and told them the country needed them.

"The Evil One"? Is that Mark McGowan? Anthony Albanese? Anyone who doesn't agree with him? Cheesy Roll Eyes
