Lots of these "mystery" illnesses going around at the moment.

West Coast Eagles superstar Nic Naitanui returns to training after mystery illness

Quote:
West Coast say superstar Nic Naitanui returned to training this morning after a mystery illness laid him up for more than a week.

Quote:
(West Coast football manager Gavin Bell) would not reveal what Naitanui was suffering from, with COVID-19 rampant in the community in the lead-up to Christmas.

Go on, Gavin... have a wild guess.  Roll Eyes

Wonder if it was the same "mystery illness" that "wiped out" the Mary Poppins cast at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre last weekend?  Undecided

In what insane, twisted reality is this even remotely acceptable?

https://mobile.twitter.com/EMacskasy/status/1602915552280051713

Quote:
I went into Fremantle Hospital this morning for eye surgery. I had my N95 on as always. I noted many other patients and some staff not wearing masks or wearing them below the nose.
I was assured that all staff wore masks in the clinical areas.

My concern was that I would not be able to replace my mask following surgery as I would be anesthetised.
I expressed my concern to the nurse in charge of the pre operative ward.
The anesthetist's assistant came to speak to me wearing his mask below his nose.

When I mentioned my concern to him, he pulled his mask even lower and leant in to assure me he would be in the operating room and "it should be ok".

I had to ask him to pull his mask back up and back away.
My confidence was at an all time low by this point. I counted 9 orderlies wandering around maskless in the pre-operative and surrounding area. I cancelled the procedure and left.
I have gotten this far without contracting Covid and have no intention of putting myself at risk now. The operation can wait a couple of years or so.

Someone working at Fremantle hospital let slip that Freo hospital is "rife with covid at the moment".
What hope is there when even a hospital cannot successfully mask up around patients.

No hope at all when masks are not worn properly (or at all) even in hospitals because "they're not mandated anymore".

There seemed to be a few more people than usual wearing masks at Belmont Forum yesterday but it wouldn't have been more than about 10% of all those I saw in the 2 hours I was there.

Midland Hospital too, apparently.

"How about a comment Andrew?"

Fat chance. He's under the same "Cone of Silence" as all of the pollies are regarding Covid.

People should NOT be going into hospital and catching Covid. Especially vulnerable patients. Full stop.

hi carl.

you need to trust the science.

the chief health officer of qld, Dr gerard said he was very happy to relinquish his emergency powers and that he expects each succeeding wave of covid to be of lesser concern and that qld was now 'totally committed' to "living with covid"

he is a very smart scientist carl and people like you need to trust the science and stop being conspiracy theorists

"I need to update his greatest hits"

Quote:
A compilation of Queensland CHO Dr John Gerrard’s greatest hits:
🦠 COVID is Mild
🦠 Wall of Immunity
🦠 Kids Don’t Get Sick
🦠 Waves Getting Milder
🦠 Endemic Any Day Now
and the all-time favourite:
🦠 It’s Inevitable and Necessary

And...

https://mobile.twitter.com/YouAreLobbyLud/status/1602930206490365954

"Any time now..." (that's sarcasm by Dr. Berger, by the way).

"Dr." John Gerrard is a dangerous psychopath in my opinion - and I'm not the only one who believes that.

Anyway... does anyone believe it is even remotely acceptable that people (especially vulnerable patients) should be at high risk of catching Covid in a hospital?

Or in any healthcare setting?

Unless of course the "plan" is to kill off as many vulnerable and elderly people as possible to save money on pensions and health costs (I and many others still believe that's the "plan").

Care to explain the "science" behind the part I've highlighted in yellow below?

Soon to be updated to "mystery illness", I'm sure.

Hence the screenshot.

NBL: Perth Wildcats’ clash with New Zealand postponed due to COVID outbreak at Breakers

Quote:
Perth’s much-anticipated home clash with New Zealand on Friday has been postponed after the Breakers were unable to sport a line-up due to a COVID outbreak among the team.

The second-placed Breakers had been scheduled to fly to WA on Thursday, but cancelled the trip. It is understood at least a handful of players have tested positive to the virus.

If it had been the Wildcats I'm sure it would have been a "mystery illness" right from the start with no mention of Covid.

Today I sent a detailed complaint to my State MP and to the WA Minister for Health. I will be interested to get their response.
In the event that both of them "blow me off", I have the second phase ready to go. Will keep you informed. Might take a month or so.

Definitely won't hear anything back before Christmas I'm sure and if he does eventually get a response I'm betting it'll be more "we are following the health advice" BS.

Actually, you do have a point there.

Yes, it really does make sense now. "Dr." Gerrard has just been saying out loud what the PM and the State Premiers have been "thinking" all along.

they are a threat to people who have not taken personal responsibility for their health.
thats for sure.

thankfully, carl has been following the excellent advice of the scooter and has lost weight, hit the gym, done a few 1/2 marathons, been out in nature, improved his biome and done ice baths to the point his immune system can easily beat a mild respiratory virus.

one does hope carl has not relied on 5 doses of a fairly useless vaccine.

that would be a great strategy for pfizer but not so good for carl

he wouldnt be that stupid after having 3 years to improve his health, surely.

surely he doesnt think health can be earnt so easily by just rolling up his sleeve.

if he wants to be healthy by rolling up his sleeve, he should roll up his sleeves and do 8 hours of hard physical work and build an awesome heart and lung system

Anyone going to Optus Stadium on March 12th to see Ed Sheeran live?

You can't buy a ticket unless you agree not to sue them if you get Covid while you're at the concert.

Maybe we should let Frontier Touring run our public health response as they seem much more forthright and science-based in their covid comms.

Sounds like a plan, Louisa.  Smiley

None of these activities, alone or together, will prevent you from contracting
the SARS-CoV-2 virus.   What they probably will do is improve your stamina
and recovery abilities, prevent more serious viral side effects, and keep you
out of hospital.

And again, SARS-CoV-2 is NOT a "mild respiratory virus".  It doesn't matter
how many times you assert this, it's simply untrue.  I don't know whether you're
trying to fool us... or yourself?   Either way, you're wasting your time.   Sorry.

COVID has already killed more than 6,714,250 people globally, and more than
17,320 in Australia.

Today there were 3,373 new cases reported here, with 135,523 currently active
cases, so it's obvious COVID is not going away.

Exactly, Geoff.

First time I've ever heard of having to 'sign a waver' when purchasing tickets to a stadium concert regarding the possibility of getting a "mild respiratory virus" .

That's never happened for the flu before as far as I'm aware.

Care to comment on that one, aqua?
