Hey, guys - remember this?
https://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1609817412/1693#1693(Ignore the Reggie 'static' below it).
Went to see my GP yesterday to get routine blood tests. He's in the same practice as my aunt's GP. Despite listening to an 'on hold' recorded message saying wearing a (surgical) mask is required when I phoned up to make the appointment last week and a sign on the front door which
still says masks (surgical again) are required inside
the 3 receptionists (not the same 3 when I took my aunt there last month) were not wearing a mask and one of them had a bad cough and the 'sniffles'.
Once again, hardly any of the GP's I saw going in or out of their rooms were wearing a mask and the ones that were only had surgical 'baggy blues'.
Thank goodness I had a KN95 on, as usual. At least the waiting area wasn't full of maskless patients this time - there was only me and another lady waiting and we both had masks on (but she was only wearing a surgical - better than nothing, I guess?)
Even my own GP had a surgical mask which he only pulled up over his mouth and nose after we went into his room and closed the door.
We're doomed, I tell you... the human race is too stupid to deserve to survive.
Here's a 'snip' from the medical practice's website regarding Covid.
"Updated 18th May 2022" Quote:Surgical masks offer better protection against the Omicron variant of COVID-19
I should have asked to see the "medical advice" to back up that claim.
And don't forget to sanitise your hands (yes, they still have the sanitiser on the reception desk and insist on it's use).
The receptionist I spoke to asked me if I had any cold or flu symptoms when I arrived (I resisted the temptation to say "no - but the lady sitting next to you appears to").
Unbelievable.
Oh, and I have to get my blood test this morning at a place across from Belmont Forum - couldn't get it at the pathology place near my GP yesterday because I need to fast for 12 hours and I hadn't eaten for about 15. Wish they'd told me that when I made the appointment last Friday.
So, all up it cost me $50.25 ($90.00 fee minus $39.75 back from Medicare) to go to my GP for a 10 minute chat and pick up a blood test form. I should have been a doctor (or a dentist).
I wonder how many masks (apart from mine) I'll see at the pathology place when I get the blood test in about an hour?
