I was up at Belmont Forum earlier and I see Woolworths have now removed all of the 1.5 metre distancing stickers from the floor where you line up for the checkouts and from both ends of all of the shopping aisles (except one which they must have forgotten about).

Still a few staff here and there with the 1.5 metre "Covid Safe" message on the back of their work vests but that was about it.

Didn't go to Coles but I'm sure it was the same there.

This probably happened after Saint Anthony of Public Housing and his medical advice sidekick, Paul "Reaper" Kelly CMO pretty much announced on Friday that the pandemic is over (even though it isn't).

There's another must read opinion piece from Doctor Andrew Miller in today's West Australian.

One can only hope that a lot of people read this and take notice but, sadly, I don't believe they will.

All aboard the COVID Express!

https://twitter.com/AlboMP/status/1578972618031783936

No wonder Mark McGowan removed the mask mandate from public transport a few weeks back.

And... does Anthony Albanese use his phone for anything else besides taking selfies?

(Asking for millions of Australians).  Roll Eyes

Oh, and speaking of Albanese...

@latingle
there’s a rumour in medical circles @AlboMP
uses @enovidTG
- an expensive nasal spray claimed to prevent COVID infection

This product has not been approved by TGA, nor is it available in Australia

How do ordinary folks pay for “personal responsibility” like this?

If it's true I'm sure a lot of Australians would like to know the answer to that one too (and I'm also sure it wouldn't be just the PM with access to it).

From last February:

What a hypocrite!!

These would actually be considered quite funny if it wasn't for the blatant hypocrisy now on display from Albanese.

And the thousands of Covid deaths since the Federal election in May, of course.

Deaths which don't look like stopping any time soon.

Tell that to the families of the hundreds who are still dying here in Australia every week and the thousands still dying worldwide. Not to mention those currently and about to be inflicted with Long Covid.

Europe’s Emerging Covid-19 Wave Reminds Us That The Pandemic Isn’t Over ’Til It’s Over

Quote:
“The pandemic is over,” President Biden said in a September interview on 60 Minutes,. For all intents and purposes, life in the U.S. and other parts of the world has resumed as it was before Covid-19. But just because things appear normal doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods.

Quote:
Optimism is a good thing, unless it’s a stubborn way to avoid reality. In reality, the pandemic is far from over.

While for most people the fear factor is gone, that doesn’t undo the fact that daily Covid-19 related deaths in the U.S. have remained stuck between 400 and 500 for months, or that long Covid is affecting millions to one degree or another. Vaccinations have helped to bring down disease severity and deaths considerably. But, the vaccines’ ability to curb transmission is limited at best. And so, in light of there being few if any mitigation measures set up, community transmission has stayed perilously high.

Quote:
Invariably viruses mutate over time. But, the more infections there are the greater the likelihood of mutations and emerging sub-variants (as well as entirely new variants) that have immune-evasive properties, whether against vaccine- or naturally acquired immunity.

Unless Australia is somehow magically immune to what happens with Covid in the rest of the world (hint: we're not) then the same thing is about to happen here in the next few months.

Carl

It's highly likely that president Biden yourself and myself will not be around in 50 years

Could you please shoot through an email to president Biden
Telling him to pass an executive order

Outlawing death

It is unacceptable in the twenty-first century
For people to still be dying

Immortality is your birthright

And there's plenty more where they came from.

Saint Anthony of Public Housing's instant rust proof aluminium halo seems to be slipping a bit lately...

Saw the most unusual thing at Belmont Forum this morning.

There were still only about 1 in 50 people wearing a mask but I saw this lady (she must have been in her 60's or 70's) and she was wearing a face shield which, of course, is completely open at the bottom.

But, she wasn't wearing a mask. If she thinks the face shield alone was protecting her from Covid or any other airborne virus she will eventually be in for an unpleasant surprise.

Here's a picture of the type of face shield I'm talking about. I wasn't quick enough to pull my phone out of the bag I was carrying to take a picture of her.

Took a trip into Perth City for the first time in months yesterday for a dentist appointment.

The staff were all wearing masks (only surgical "baggy blues") but there didn't seem to be any requirement for patients to be wearing them while in the waiting area. I thought masks were still required in healthcare settings? They're still required in optometrists for now.

Anyway, I kept my KN95 mask on the whole time (except while my teeth were being cleaned and checked, of course).

I walked down to Perth City from Rivervale - took about an hour and three quarters - and as soon as I got close and started to see more people I immediately put my mask on.

At one stage there it looked like I was the only person in St. Georges Terrace wearing a mask.

I would have walked back home again if I'd had the time but I caught the bus instead - first time I've used public transport since the mask mandate was lifted about a month back.

I was the only person on the bus wearing a mask, fortunately there weren't too many people on the bus from the time I got on until the time I got off.

"No one could have foreseen this".

Thousands trapped on Coral Princess cruise ship off WA coast after virus outbreak

Quote:
About 1900 people on board a cruise ship off the coast of Western Australia could be left stranded for days after a COVID-19 outbreak.

Almost 2000 passengers could be forced to isolate for up to five days on-board the first large cruise ship to enter WA waters since the new cruise protocols came into effect, following the height of the pandemic.

The Coral Princess departed Sydney on October 11 and docked in Broome on Monday morning.

It is understood there are up to 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the ship.

Wonder if this will be front page news in tomorrow's The West Australian?

My guess is it won't even get a mention.

I had to double check the date on this story before I posted about it - at first I thought it might have been from early 2020.
