Well, after the public transport mask mandates were removed here in WA on Friday I've noticed hardly anyone is wearing masks anymore.
Sat at the bus stop in Wright Street outside Belmont Forum for about 20 minutes on Friday morning (in my KN95 mask, of course) and watched about 5 or 6 buses go past and stop for passengers.
I must have seen about 3 or 4 people with masks on while I was watching.
The bus drivers weren't wearing masks - no real surprise there.
Saw about the same when I walked to the Kooyong Road shops and back home yesterday - 2 or 3 people wearing masks on the 3 or 4 buses I saw. And, surprisingly, I actually saw one of the drivers wearing a mask!!
I thought for a minute that it might have been 2 bus drivers wearing masks but it turned out one of them just had a long, dark beard.
Now I'm just waiting for the
"You do you" signs to appear on our public transport.
jeez carl, youre an outlier.
you are outside the overton window.
What is the Overton window?
Definition and explanation
The Overton window of political possibility is the range of ideas the public is willing to consider and accept.
In the United States, the idea of different races mixing in public or women’s suffrage were once considered fringe, extreme policies. That they’re now deemed common sense, reflects progress in shifting the Overton window.
A politician seeking to maximise their chances of reelection should determine where the Overton window for key policy issues is, via public opinion polls and other means, so they can successfully campaign on those ideas.
