lol... I suspect Lotus was quite surprised when Basil actually replied (and expected to get an answer from her).  Grin

Had a call from a lady at the Seniors Centre in Belmont this morning.

My 92 year old aunt can't go there tomorrow morning to have her hair done like she usually does every Wednesday because the lady who does everyone's hair up there has Covid (and, she's 60 years old so it might be bad for her).

Let's hope she didn't have it when my aunt was there last Wednesday. Everyone wears masks but it is still a bit of a worry.

My aunt seems OK at the moment... might have to start using some of those 15 free RAT's we all got from Mark McGowan soon. And, needless to say, if anything happens to her as a result of getting Covid I am going to be extremely pissed off.

Does your aunt run a small business in Perth?

What a strange question.

And, no she doesn't (obviously).

So, are you saying elderly people like my aunt should risk their lives to get their hair done for $20 (which is what my aunt and the other seniors pay)?

By the way... I'm watching this situation very closely and I've already told my aunt that she might not be going there anymore from now on. She's not particulary happy but she understands.

I was talking to one of our elderly neighbours (she's in her 80's) yesterday morning and during the conversation I mentioned that my aunt and I were still wearing masks when we go shopping, etc.

Her response was "oh, you don't need to do that anymore, didn't you know?"

I replied "yes, we know. But, Covid hasn't gone away despite what the government wants everyone to believe. In fact, it appears to be getting worse".

She was surprised to hear that and I've always considered her to be quite intelligent. I'm guessing she will now go back to wearing a mask whenever she leaves the house (which isn't very often).

At 92, if she doesn't suffer from severe sleep apnoea, your aunt would risk her life more than most of us when she gets out of bed.

I still wear a mask at my mother's house, and she always wears one when she's out.

It's just sensible.

Not actually Covid related but I'll mention this here if it's OK?

Just came back from the Kooyong Road shops and I was wondering if the WA Department of Communities was aware of an election 'poster' being put up on the fence of one of their public housing properties across the road from IGA?

Wouldn't have thought that would be allowed? Can't imagine the Department putting it up themselves (especially since it's for the Liberal Party and we have a State Labor government) and I find it hard to believe the resident(s) in the front unit would have put it up themselves and I doubt they would be allowed to do it anyway?

Besides, I doubt that anyone living in public housing would vote for the Liberals? Mind you, nothing would surprise me anymore after what we've all been dealing with for the past 2 years.

Oh, Greg... Kristy McSweeney is the Liberal replacement for Steve Irons who has now retired from politics. Thank goodness.  Smiley

10,182 new cases in WA today and 6 more "historical" deaths.

Have we reached the peak yet, Mark McGowan? I thought you told us we'd already reached the peak with 7,000 - 8,000 cases a day a few weeks back?

And, we're still waiting for that "soft landing" you've been telling us about over and over. So far we've hit the runway hard and bounced off several times and we're getting close to having the undercarriage collapse resulting in a total wreck on the next attempt.

Pathetic... we're all so disappointed with you after you finally caved in to big business just like the other Premiers did.
