My thoughts exactly.

And... (from the article):

Quote:
A review will now be undertaken into the hospital's procedures.

All we ever seem to hear about is reviews into procedures (always after potentially deadly stuff ups are made, just like with hotel quarantine).

Proper procedures should have been in place and enforced since the first Covid case arrived in Australia in late January last year.

We're too complacent here in Perth.

I've got to take both parents to RPH in the next few weeks.

Hope your parents are OK, Greg.

At least 2 of the 3 potentially infected RPH staff are fully vaccinated and the third has had the first vaccine dose and all 3 are now isolated but that isn't a guarantee that others haven't been infected, of course.

Yes.

She is an Australian citizen so they can't do that

You need to ask the right people, not us.

Here you go:

well the virus isnt going to be interested in the opinion of a beaureacrat politician.

its going to do what it wants to do.

so do you accept that in 6 months, or 1 year or 2 years, there will be community transmission and people being hospitalised and dying from covid or do you think "fortress WA" can continue indefinitely  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

"Fortress WA" can continue indefinitely as far as I (and most West Australians, I suspect) am concerned. Or, at least until the Covid pandemic is over.

The only danger to our "fortress" at this stage are mistakes like this:

Another one.

Coronavirus crisis: Full review underway after second PPE breach confirmed at Royal Perth Hospital

https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/coronavirus/coronavirus-crisis-full-review-unde...

Quote:
An investigation is under way after a second COVID breach occurred at Royal Perth Hospital yesterday.

A staff member caring for a COVID-positive patient removed their surgical mask before completely exiting a patient’s room.

The incident was detected immediately and the staff member was placed into self-quarantine.

Quote:
It comes as a service lift at the same hospital was not appropriately cordoned off after it was used to transport the captain of the bulk-carrier MV AquaGenie from the emergency department to the intensive care unit.

Three staff members who were not wearing PPE used the lift prior to it being cleaned.

Mr Cook said the lift should have been cordoned off and the situation was continuing to be reviewed.

I sure hope our good luck with avoiding a major Covid outbreak continues but if things like this keep happening (and with winter approaching) I have my doubts.

I have to agree with you aqua   a huge over reaction in WA   they will never build up any immunity at that rate... even a lift has to be sterilised...........   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  come on!!!!!

I can only guess everyone is living in fear over there....  and I am amazed they do not care about this isolation or bubble they will be living in  especially waiting for this virus to wear itself out.... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy which appears to be what they are hoping for....Houston WA has a great big problem..

Living in fear?  In WA?

You wouldn't even know there was a pandemic here.

Life is normal.

You have to sign in to pubs and shops with an app - that's about the only change here.

Nobody is living in fear - it's business as usual here.

Really

How long will business-as-usual last

When eventually the eastern states open up to international travel and accept a level of community spread of covid.
Which is what every other place on earth will eventually accept
How are you get on with your inevitable travel to eastern states
With your football teams and cricket teams
With people from the east who have relatives in western Australia
People who are asymptomatic carriers

Do you honestly think that you can keep this virus away if it becomes endemic and rest of the world
This virus which seems like it has spread to the corners of the globe incredibly quickly
I think you are living in a fantasy world

And the world will pass you by

No.

We're going to get hit hard one day.

That's what I've been saying for ages.

We're too complacent here.
