It is a pathetic one, isnt it, ey, but f**k.  There, four different dialects.

Because just saying 'it is pathetic' is unintelligible without a 'one' or 'ey' or 'isn't it' after it.

A great first step towards acknowledging Australian pidgins, creoles and dialects.

Let's see politicians learn and speak phrases in local Aboriginal languages as well.

Pidgin & Creole are based on English

there was very little actual tribal language in it.

It was a bullshyte exercise .... as other dialect users across the state would not have understood that either.

It was in fact laughable.

It's pathetic. Sorry - " it is pathetic one".

Why?

There are a myriad of dialects spoken in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, why should Australia be any different?

Grin
It's not a dialect when you stick 'one' after every second adjective.

If he said her lines, which he easily could have, people would be up in arms about mocking and ridiculing Aborigines.

Like adding 'la' or 'meh' to the end of sentences as Malaysian and Singaporean English speakers do?

Or the Canadian / Kiwi 'ay' at the end of sentences?

Or the Australian habit of abbreviating words to a diminutive by appending'-ie' or 'o' or 'a'? Do even Australian public speakers refer to going to the football match or the footy?

Language evolves to suit the regional speakers of the language.

If adding 'one' is the norm for Aboriginal English speakers of a particular region, then, so it is.

Aboriginals would have been able to understand McGown without an interpreter.

If you could call her that.

Some(older) may not have a good grasp on speaking full English, but they understand it.

It's possible that speakers of other aboriginal vernaculars would not have understood it.

The question would be: did it help the Noongar, Yamatji, Wongi people of Western Australia understand it more clearly when spoken in a vernacular they could more easily comprehend?

Monolingual English speakers are usually the laughing stock throughout the world, largely not least for their blind ignorance of the respective local English spoken.

Any aboriginals who find it easier to understand her than him have zero hope for a normal, healthy life. And it is simply a condescending insult to all Aborigines to roll them out, him speaking slowly and with great effirt to articulate, as if talking to hard of hearing retards  - and then her garbling and mumbling and fluffing her words. She is clearly struggling with finding a way to 'Aboriginalise' even further his simple, clear words.

And if any white person spoke to Aborigines like that they would rightly feel insulted, ridiculed and mocked.

Sofg bigotry of low expectations preening as cultural sensitivity.

It is a pathetic one, isn't it, but.

Are you presuming the McGowan government did not seek advice from Noongar (etc) elders about this?

Almost identical to how non-Australians perceive the broad Australian accent.

The old boy wouldn't be too happy with that, Meister. Frank's always said how important indigenous consultation is, it's just the way he is.

Consultative, innit.

Strange. I could have sworn the old boy assimilated.

Oh well. At least he's not tinted.

Fccn, eh?

Who's been spying on Aussie pencil cases, as every schoolboy knows?

I got detention for that. Your prog teachers back in jolly old Scandinavia probably gave you an award.

What did they give you for writing CUNT on your knuckles in Liquid Paper?

A holiday to New South Wales?
